"There is a look that can melt a woman's heart from across a crowded room that tells other men, she's under my protection.". Graham White

Chapter 13

Dmitri gazed worriedly at Faith as he gently laid her on her bed.

"Do not fret Dimi, All will be well. I promise. Its just a small cut and Luch will fix it. " Faith assured as she brushed the hair from his forehead.

A feeling of fullness spread through Dmitri's chest at Faith's soft touch. A shiver ran down his spine as her hand slowly trailed down his cheek. The warmth of her tiny hand burning into his skin.

Dmitri's eyes began to glow as the innocence of her scent began to carry a softly heated undertone. The new element in her scent brought his animal side to the forefront.

Dmitri growled a low warning as Luch cautiously entered the room with Jaden in his arms. Approaching the pair hesitantly as he set Jaden at his feet.

"Team Leader Dmitri, if you will step outside I can tend to Faith's wounds."

"Treat her now, I stay" Dmitri replied in an animalistic growl.

Luch looked to his sister for help in getting the overly possessive male out so he could tend to her. Faith looked between the two and just shrugged her shoulders in defeat. Neither could think of a way to make him leave without causing a fight.

Looking once more at the warrior Luch turned to his sister "Do you trust him, Sister?"

Faith gazed into her dramatic males eyes tenderly and knew there was only one answer.

"With my heart Brother. With all of my soul. He would never hurt me." She answered with a smile.

Shutting the door, Luch slowly approached the bed. He ignored the low growl as he laid his hands on his sister. Closing his eyes he began to slowly inspect her with his mind.

Dmitri stepped back quickly. A series of barks erupting from his chest at the scene before him. His female and the healer were enshrouded in a blue light. The low hum of power making him whine in discomfort as his young clung to his legs.

Pressing Jaden back into the wall, Dmitri stood protectively in front of him, all his senses on hyper alert waiting to step in if need be. Slowly, the gash that had been steadily dripping blood since the shard of glass was removed, began to knit together. As the blue glow began to fade, Dmitri stared in awe at the unblemished flesh.

Luch took a shaky step back as the last of Faith's wounds were healed. Thankfully, she did not have much internal damage and most of the wounds that were visible had been superficial. Catching Faith's eye, Luch saw the same worry in her that he felt. How would this warrior react to their secret?

The siblings turned to the pair. Dmitri still had Jaden protectively behind him. His stance was aggressive his stare full of questions.

"Dimi, do you know what we are?" Faith asked.

Dmitri warily shook his head no. They were shifters. Weren't they? They came from a pack and smelt like wolf shifters. But as Dmitri inhaled deeply he knew there was more to their scent. Nuances that he had never smelt before.
Not to mention their odd eye and hair color. And their size. They were so tiny that he could easily mistake them for young. Lets not forget they did not have the right temperament for shifter. Faith was to soft.

Okay there were a lot of signs pointing to them not being shifters. Taking in another deep breath he carefully analyzed what he was smelling.

"Your half-breeds?! I didn't think they were possible. I can't tell what your mixed with though.". It was the only explanation.

Dmitri wasn't sure how it could've though. Mixed unions, even if the couple were true mates, were not only taboo, but also were thought to be sterile. How could Luch and Faith exist?

Faith stood to approach Dmitri while nudging Luch towards the door. This would probably go more smoothly with just the two of them. He wouldn't hurt her, but she couldn't promise the same courtesy towards Luch.

Luch quietly left the room hoping he made the right decision in leaving his sister to explain their existence.

Laying her palm on Dmitri's chest Faith answered simply.

"We are half Fae and half Shifter."

"The Fae are real?" Dmitri was astounded. He had always though that they were just myths and tales for the young.

"Yes". Faith giggled at Dmitri's astonishment "The Fae truly exist. Just not so much on this plane anymore.".

Faith shyly brushed her hair behind her ears showing Dmitri the sharply pointed peak of her ear denoting her elvish blood. He tenderly ran his finger along the tip causing Faith to shiver at the strange feeling over running her. Looking up into Dmitri's dark eyes the wonder became replaced with a heated look that made Faith's body flush and clench in ways it never had before.

Dmitri stepped closer to Faith. Towering over her small heated frame. Her scent had ripened more and was now calling to him in enticement .

He slipped the hand that had been caressing Faith's ear down her neck, pulling her closer until there was but a hairs breath of room between them. Dmitri's head began to lower as if he was unable to fight the pull of gravity any longer. As soft as a breath, their mouths touched. Panting breaths mingling. The heat from their bodies warming their scents and urging them on.

"Dahma, Aif". Small hands pulled insistently on Dmitri's pant leg as a small voice broke them apart.

Jaden stared up at the dazed pair. Faith's cheeks were colored with her embarrassment. They had both been so lost in each other they had forgotten that Jaden was in the room.

"Dahma, Aith hungy."

Not sure quite what had happened or what it meant Faith cleared her throat and glanced shyly towards Dmitri and Jaden.

"I should start dinner, I'm sure everyone else is hungry also."

Faith turned towards the door only to find herself once again in Dmitri's arms. This time though instead of another soft hesitant kiss, she was met with the face of a stubborn male trying to tuck her into bed.

Each move to leave her bed was met with an impatient growl as he would once again lay her down and cover her up. Exasperated, Faith gave up on escaping.

"Dimi, honestly I'm all better. I don't need to rest."

Dmitri ran shaking fingers through her blood crusted hair. Even though the skin was now smooth with nary a scar to show from the accident he could not get the sight of her with blood pouring down her face out of his mind. Sitting on the edge of the bed he leaned in and gently kissed where the glass had torn through Faith's tender flesh.

"Please solnyshko, rest. I will take care of dinner and our young tonight. Just let me take care of you."
