Chapter 6

Faith was just pulling the rolls out of the oven as Mike and Eric entered the room. They were the first to finish with their showers and had rushed downstairs while Rafe and Lincoln helped Alex and Jamie clean up.

"Is dinner ready now Faith?" asked Eric excitedly.

"Not until everyone else is here. Why don't you two help me set the table. Then everything will be ready as soon as the others arrive"

She handed the two small boys the silverware to take into the dining room while she put the rolls in a basket. As predicted by the time everything was ready and on the table the other boys could be heard coming down the hall.

The boys sat down with a scraping of chair legs across the floor as she secured Jaden into his high chair. When she stood up she noticed the boys had all stopped laughing and talking and were now all sitting stiffly in their seats looking down at their plates. Out of the corner of her eye she saw the quite male from the entryway enter the dining room freshly showered.

"Oh good were all here. Please sit sir and we can begin dinner."

Faith took her seat in between Jaden and Alex and motioned to the empty place at the head of the table for the male whom she assumed was a returning team leader.

"Welcome home Team Leader Dmitri, it is good to see you have returned." Lincoln said formally as he bowed his head in respect.

As the oldest it was his place to set an example for the younger boys and he hoped he didn't get punished for how they had been acting before the Team Leader had entered the room.

Dmitri acknowledged the young boys address as he began to fill his bowl and plate with the food that had been laid out.

"Thank you Trainee Lincoln, perhaps you could tell me of the changes that have occurred since my absence?"

Though formed as a question, Lincoln knew that is was an order to fill him in on what was going on.

"Well sir, I'm not sure of everything as no one has told us much yet. I guess it started a couple of months ago. Team Leader Elijah found a mate when he was on assignment. Her name is Cassandra and her father is the Alpha of the Dark Moon Pack. " Lincoln paused as Team Leader Dmitri grunted in surprise at this.

"Truly Elijah has mated?" Dmitri queried. His shock was clear.

"Yes sir. He brought Miss Cassie back with him while he finished up his last assignment before he petitioned for retirement. While she was with us he was sent out on his assignment and that's when Jaden got sent to us."

"Jaden..?" Dmitri prompted, when Lincoln paused to take a bite of his soup.

Lincoln hurried and swallowed so he could answer. "Yeah, he just turned two. No one knew what to do with him because we'd never had anyone so young sent to us before. So Miss Cassie took care of him."

Lincoln took a few more hurried bites of his soup while Dmitri processed what he had heard so far. Lincoln kept saying Miss Cassie but he could have sworn they had all called this small female, Faith earlier. After taking a drink of his milk Lincoln continued on with his story.

"When Team Leader Elijah returned he had Miss Faith with him. Commander told us today that he had brought her back to take care of all of us since Team Leader Elijah and Miss Cassie had to return to her pack. The Alpha was sick and they had to take over the pack. So that's about it." The last was said in a rush trying to get it all out so he could go back to his food before it was cold.
