Chapter 27 - Pain And Party Invites

I locked the nap time room up, and sat down at the desk, looking at my phone. The lights went out, and I put my phone away. I looked up and saw two red lights peering at me from the darkness. I sling my backpack on and start heading for the door. I stopped and looked back at Moon.

-"You coming?"

He paused for a second, blinking and shaking his head a bit.

-"Yeah.."

He walked up, taking my hand. We left the daycare and went to the lobby. As we  walked, he tightened his grip on my hand every now and then. We sat down at the same booth as last time, instead of sitting across from me, Moon sat next to me this time. I watched the show, and yet again, Monty winked at me. Why did I blush each time? Moon didn't growl, thank god, but he just leaned against me and held me close to him.

After the show, Monty came to the booth, he paused when he saw his seat next to me was filled, then sat across. He grabbed a slice of pizza.

-"So, little gator, how's it been since our last chat?"

-"It's been great! A lot happened.. All good things, though!"

Monty nodded, not eating his pizza as fast as yesterday.

-"So.. Man in the Moons being a bit clingy, what's up with that?"

I looked up at Moon, he had his head cast down, and his eyes half closed, he seemed to be staring at nothing. My expression became worried. I looked back at Monty.

-"Something happened last night, don't worry about it."

Monty raised an eyebrow as he grabbed another slice of pizza. I felt my face getting hot, was he onto us?

-"It was nothing- really!"

-"I'm onto you, little gator."

-"So uh- Monty, I was thinking we could go over and see DJ this weekend-"

I felt Moon start physically shaking, and he was making quiet whimpering sounds.

-"Moon?"

-"It.. Hurts.."

He held his head. I looked up at him, worried.

-"We can pick this conversation back up next time I see you.. I'm gonna take Moon back to the daycare.."

Monty also looked a little worried, he nodded, and I got up from the booth, taking Moons hand. We started slowly making our way back to the daycare, Moon was walking much slower, and seemed in physical pain. We were getting pretty close, when Moon suddenly collapsed. I tried to catch him, I was successful, but he was really heavy.

-"Moon.. We're almost there.."

He weakly tried to get up, but failed. I started dragging him, eventually making it into the daycare, where the lights were still off. I layed him against the wall, his eyes were half shut, and he was shaking. I took his hand, and he looked up at me.

-"It'll be okay Moon.."

He nodded, tightening his grip on my hand significantly. It hurt, but I wasnt going to comment on it. Suddenly the lights came on. Moon stopped shaking as he transformed into Sun. Sun was wide-eyed and looked at my hand, letting go of it. There was a red mark from how hard Moon was squeezing my hand.

-"Sunshine! I'm so sorry!"

-"It's okay, Sunny! I.. I hope Moon feels better by my night shift.."

Sun nodded. We both got up to unlock the nap time room doors. Sun took all the kids while I threw all the dirty blankets in the hamper. I took the hamper and set it behind the desk. Maybe I would have to go alone to wash everything. I was a little scared, but I could make it. I saw some kids from the hide and seek group approaching me.
