Chapter 53 - Goodbye Again

Y/Ns POV

When I woke up it was light out, but still dark enough in the room for Moon to be out. He was fast asleep, making those small snoring sounds. I layed my head back down on his chest. I closed my eyes, falling back asleep.

I woke up and Moon was gone. I sat up, it was dark out now, and the sky was full of stars. I got an idea. The lights were still off. I got up and went over to the light switch, the power was still out as well. I searched around and found a flashlight and a blanket. I clicked the flashlight on, heading down the stairs. I saw a shadowy figure sitting on the couch. I shined my flashlight at them and saw Moon's nightcap.

-"Hey Moon."

He looked over at me. He looked almost.. Annoyed?

-"Come with me, I wanna show you something."

He got up, and I stepped down the remaining stairs. I went over and put my boots on, as well as my jacket. I led Moon outside, and to the side of the house where a ladder was.

-"Yknow how you would show me the stars on the ceiling when the lights were off in the daycare?"

He nodded, and I propped the ladder up and started climbing to the roof. He followed me up, and I set the blanket down on the snow-covered roof. I sat down, patting the spot next to me. Moon sat down on the blanket with me.

-"I thought I'd show you this."

I pointed up, and he looked up at the sky. It looked just like the fake sky in the daycare. He didn't give much of a reaction.

-"Is something wrong? You seem.. Upset."

He looked back at me blankly.

-"Y/N. We're done."

-"What?"

I was caught completely off guard. I got up, taking a step away from him. He also got up, taking a step towards me.

-"I said we're done. We're breaking up."

-"But.. Why?"

-"Me and Sun found someone else.. Someone 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳."

Not too long ago, he said he'd never leave me. That I was irreplaceable. He took another step towards me as I took another step back. I was at the edge of the roof. He took another step towardd me.

-"I thought.. But you said.."

-"I told you what you wanted to hear. Do you honestly think we could love someone like you?"

He shoved me, and I felt myself falling. I looked at Moon, who watched blankly as I fell. I felt so betrayed. I felt used. I felt lied to. And just as the impact from of the ground came. . .

I jolted awake, hyperventilating. Hot tears filled my eyes. Someone hugged me and pulled me closer to them.

-"Hey, it's okay, it was just a nightmare.."

It was Moon. He was still here. It was just a nightmare. I hugged him back, letting the tears fall from my eyes. He silently stroked my hair as I cried. I eventually calmed down and just layed my head on his chest.

-"Do you wanna tell me about it?"

I took a deep breath. I explained how we were on the roof, and then he said all those things, then pushed me off. He was completely silent for a while, but then he finally said something.

-"I'm sorry we broke our promise.. As soon as we made it too.."

-"Why is that relevant now?"

-"Because if we didn't, you wouldn't feel like you can't trust us.. I know that's how you feel, I can see it on your face.."

I can't deny a small part of me feels like I can't trust him. Was that the reason for the nightmare? I looked over at the window, it was still morning, give or take early evening. I started getting up.

-"You think the power's still out?"

-"Not sure, try the light switch."

I went over to the light switch, and Moon followed close behind. I flipped the switch, but nothing happened. So the power was still out. I searched around for a flashlight, eventually finding one. I went downstairs with Moon. I spotted a container on the top of the freezer. It was full of the cookies we'd made almost a month ago. I went over and grabbed the container, going over to the garbage and dumping the cookies out. They were most likely beyond stale by now, I put the container in the sink, sitting down on the couch. Moon sat down with me.

-"Y/N. I need to tell you something."

I looked over at him, what now? He looked back at me.

-"Me and Sun are gonna be.. Inactive for a while."

-"What?"

-"Charlie's gonna look at our system. He's gonna try to get rid of the virus. We're gonna be deactivated, and it might be a while."

-"But-"

-"He'll be here any minute. We wanted at least one more night before going away."

I just got back, and now they're leaving. I felt like I wanted to cry. Moon took one of my hands, frowning.

-"Don't worry.. You have DJ.. And Charlie will be in the basement with us."

I nodded, and then there was a knock at the door. He wasn't lying when he said 'any minute.' I got up and answered the door, letting Charlie in. We didn't exchange any words. He looked over at Moon.

-"You ready?"

Moon nodded, and they went down to the basement. I went up to my room and got my computer out, checking my email.

Over the next few days, I had found a job that let me work from home, and I had sent in my two week notice at the store. I was sitting down, watching TV, but not really. My mind was wandering. I missed Sun and Moon, but I wasn't allowed in the basement unless I was bringing Charlie food, so nothing got messed up.

-"You holding up okay, Y/N?"

I snapped out of my thoughts. I looked over at DJ, who was looking at me with concern.

-"Oh. Uh.. Yeah. I should probably get ready for work."

I got up and went upstairs, getting ready and leaving.

The two weeks went by slower than ever. I had quit my job at the store and was now working from my laptop. It was getting late. I brought Charlie dinner, and we exchanged a few words on the short time I was down there. Over the small interactions, we had gotten to good terms and I had 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵𝘭𝘺 forgiven him about the whole situation. I went back upstairs, talking with DJ for a bit before I went upstairs. I sat down in my bed, staring forward at nothing. It had been most three weeks since Sun and Moon had been deactivated, and I still wasn't used to being alone in here. I layed my head down, closing my eyes. After a while I finally willed myself to sleep.
