Chapter 9: The Arena

Clay awoke to find himself in chains, he observed his surrounding and saw that he was chained to a pillar."Ok, this has to be a dream, this has to be a DREAAAM!" he yelled as he nearly fell of the pillar.

He saw that the chain were connected to a multitude of other pillars around him, shaping into a circle and in the middle of it was the skywing arena."Oh great, Im back here again." said Clay crouching down.

All of a sudden, a familiar fire-scaled skywing flew up to Clay."Clay? What the heck are you doing here?" asked Peril while landing on his pillar."My friends and I were just hiding out but then a skywing patrol captured us and now were captives here." said Clay.

"Huh, well that sucks. But hey at least you get a front row seat to the arena, Im pretty sure I got a fight soon." Said Peril. Peril then took off to who knows where, leaving Clay still stuck on the pillar. But then he heard a familiar grunt coming from the pillar next to him, he looked over and saw it was Tsunami.

"Tsunami, is that you?" cried out Clay."Clay! So you got stuck on a pillar too." Yelled back Tsunami."Ya, Where are the others?" Asked Clay."I think Starflight and Glory are in the dungeon, down there." Said Tsunami Pointing to a gated entrance in the arena."I don't know where Sunny is though, I think she might be in the castle."

Just then A skywing soldier flew up to them and shouted."Oy Shut up, the fight is about to start." He yelled diving back down to the stands.

Clay and Tsunami then peaked over their pillars and observed the fight. They then saw Peril in the middle of the arena, and then a sandwing came out from the gate but there was something off about this sandwing. His claws were made out of metal.

"Oh cmon, that can't be fair. Who's allowing a fighter to wear armor?" Yelled Clay. But then an Icewing next to him yelled."They're not, that's Iron Claw, he lost his talons fighting and wears metallic copies instead, he's undefeated until now." Said the icewing.

"Ready, FIGHT!" yelled an announcer. The Fight started out pretty well, Peril managed to get in a few good hits while burning Iron Claw. But then Iron Claw Started getting the upper hand, he started clawing at Peril and surprisingly, she started to get injured.

"She needs help." Thought Clay. He then realized one of his chains was burnt, Peril must have stepped on it to loosen them. Clay then blasted his chains and manage to free himself from them."Freedom,Nope nope wings still chained." He said while trying a failed attempt at flight and falling down the pillar.

Clay then continued to fall down the rows of skywing observers, eventually falling into the arena and on top of Iron Claw, Knocking him unconscious. Clay then saw Peril and they were both looking at each other."Hey." They both said to each other. Awkward."Oy, Grab that Mudwing!" Yelled some soldiers as they jumped into the arena.

"And that's my cue to go!" said Clay as he got back up and ran for the dungeon entrance. He ran into the dungeon area and saw that there were many prisoners there, but then he noticed 2 in particular."Starflight, Glory, you're ok!" yelled Clay in excitement."Ya, if you call being locked up in a dark dungeon ok." said Glory.

"Alright, Il get you guys out, but where's Sunny?" asked Clay."She was taken by Queen Scarlet to her studies, she said that she's gonna sell her to Burn when she arrives." said Starflight in worry. Just then the soldiers started to catch up with Clay."I got to go now, Il be back!" yelled Clay.

 He then continued running away from the soldiers but then he passed by a food stand."OOOh Food." said Clay as he devoured the entire table."Oy, there he is, get him!" yelled a guard as he spotted Clay. 

Clay then continued to run and had to find a place to hide. The soldiers then took a turn into the main hall, and then observed what was a very realistic mudwing statue. They then saw its eyes followed them and one of them said."Huh, must be one of those statues that follows you where ever you go." "It docent matter, we must find that mudwing or Queen Scarlet will have our heads!" yelled another as they continued they're search.

The statue then moved revealing it was Clay."Few, that was a close one." He said while swiping his head. But then he bumped into someone, a very, terrifying someone.

"So, your the little runt who's been causing the commotion." said the skywing queen."Q Q Queen Scarlet!" said Clay being absolutely terrified. The Guards managed to finally catch up to clay and re chained him."We'll take him back to his pillar now, no food for you tonight mudwing." said one of the soldiers.

"No, I have learned about this ones...Abilities, I want him to care for Peril until she fully heals." Ordered Queen Scarlet. The guards then dragged Clay into the deeper parts of the castle, Clay then recognized the place he was going, it was the the training room where he met Peril.

The guards then dropped Clay off in the room and locked the gate behind him. He then saw Peril in the middle of the room, bleeding on the floor do to the cuts she got when fighting Iron Claw."Ok, Queen Scarlet said I had to tend to your wounds...How the moons am I suppose to do that?" asked Clay.

"Grab that mud over there, its like an aloe vera, its what I usually put on if I ever bleed." Said Peril. Clay then applied the mud to Peril's wounds, immediately it hardened."Ok, it should be fully healed by tomorrow or so." Said Peril. Clay then attempted to leave the room but remembered that the guards sealed him off."OK, Looks like Im stuck here for the night." Said Clay.

They then got into a corner were a sleeping spot was created, it was made of obsidian and had some metal sheets over it."That must be uncomfortable." said Clay."Eh only on wrestlers nights." Said Peril. They then got into the bed, but before they went to sleep Clay asked."Hey Peril, Have you ever thought about... I don't know leaving the arena?" Peril responded."I, I guess so Ive always wanted to see the rest of the kingdom but Scarlet never lets me leave." "Well I think that might change soon, Night Peril." said Clay."Night Clay." said Peril.

And like that, Both Peril and Clay went to bed. But Clay then wrapped his wing around Peril and she scooted in towards him. 

It looks like a new friendship had been created, and maybe also, a new love.
