Chapter 16: Desert of secrets

The dragonets continued flying after smolder, keeping their distance from him so they wouldn't be spotted. Each one of them had different thoughts about what has been happening lately, from the raid to Blister knowing Thorn and now where the heck Smolder is flying off too.

"Any idea what we'll fine when Smolder stops flying?" asked Clay."Probably just some military camp or something, Princes are usually assigned to those, I should know." said Tsunami. Everyone else had their thoughts but Starflight noticed that Sunny looked upset, so he glided closer to her.

"Hey, everything ok?" he asked her."Oh, ya Im just upset that I had to leave my parents behind." she said with a single tear dripping from her eye."Hey look, I am sure they are fine, besides your dad's an animus, who would want to mess with him?!" said Starflight, cheering up Sunny a tiny bit.

But the chatter ended when they noticed that Smolder was about to land down."Cmon, let's keep following him." said Glory diving down towards a dune while the others followed. They all landed on the dune and spied on Smolder as he walked up to a huge pile of sand, but he then used his wings to move some of it to reveal a door."What the?" Said every dragonet being confused.

Smolder then entered the structure closing the door behind him."Ok, so Smolder has a private house, big woop every royal has one, can we go now!?" asked a bored Tsunami."No, lets see if we can get closer and see what's in there." said Sunny walking towards the door."Wait Sunny!" Shouted Starflight following her, and soon the rest followed as well.

The dragonets neared the door and pushed it open, but they didn't find what they suspected, instead of some armory or secret bunker, it looked like this place was built for living. There was a table and chairs everywhere, a kitchen in the back, even a fireplace. The dragonets then noticed food on the table, so someone is still here.

All of a sudden, a blade went up to Sunny's neck while a sandwing barb went up towards Starflight's, then the dragon said."One more move and your friends die, and I mean it!" the voice yelled, it sounded like a female,but defiantly older than the dragonets.

But then they heard someone yell."Onyx! Let them go!" said another voice. The dragon, who's name was Onyx lowered the deadly items and walked towards the other dragon, but then out of the darkness, Prince Smolder Appeared."What's going on here? Palm are you ok?" he asked the other dragon wrapping his wing around her.

"Im fine Smolder, although I don't know who are guest are." she said while looking at the dragonets."Hey, I recognize you five, you're the dragonets from Scarlets palace, the ones I helped free." said Smolder recognizing the dragonets.

"Oh, so you remember us?" asked Clay."I never forget a face, especially ones I care about." he said snuggling with the female."Ugh, you two are gross mom and dad." said Onyx gagging."MOM AND DAD!?" yelled the dragonets in shock.

"Oh where are my manners, allow me to introduce my mate, Palm, and my daughter Onyx." said Smolder pointing to the two females. Then Sunny said"Wait, if Palm is your mate, and Onyx is your daughter, does that mean she's-""A sandwing princess and heir, yep correct." said Onyx.

"Wait, so how come you don't just go out they're and claim your birthright or whatever sandwings do now a days." said Glory."NO! My sisters can NEVER know about Onyx, if they do they'll execute her on sight, they want no loose ends for them to be able to take the crown." said Smolder in an alarming tone.

"Ok ok, we won't say anything, besides we had our fair share with your sisters today." said Tsunami."Really, what happened?" asked Palm."About an hour ago...The Scorpion den was raided by Blister and her troops." said Sunny.

The expressions on the three sand wings faces changed as soon as Sunny finished talking."Moons, I knew Blister would do anything to take the crown, but I didn't know she would attack her own kind." said Smolder placing his right talon on his head. Palm then wrapped her wing around Smolder to comfort him.

"But the weirdest thing was, she somehow knew my mother, Thorn." All of a sudden, Smolder moved his talons and looked at Sunny."Wait, the Thorn? I haven't heard that name since I was a dragonet." he said.

"What do you mean, how do you people know my mother!?" asked Sunny. Smolder looked at Onyx and Palm and then he said.

"It all started back when I was young, right before the war, I was seeing Palm in secret and kept it away from my sisters, but one day we were in the market when Blaze got robbed by a young dragonet, we caught her but instead of executing her, our father was impressed by her skills and wanted to recruit her into our royal guard. At first she was having her ups and downs, but Blister molded her into the ultimate weapon, a warrior forever loyal to their tribe. But when our mother, Queen Oasis died and our treasure was stolen, Thorn decided to abandon us and she also took a third of our guards to create her "Outclaws." But I knew she wanted to escape my sisters, they are the most dangerous dragons in Pyrrhia, so that's how we knew her, because we adopted her into our ranks."

The dragonets couldn't believe what they just heard, Thorn was once a soldier under Blister, that's something you don't hear everyday."Wow, this...this is a lot to take in, my own mother didn't tell me about this." said Sunny being in complete shock. Starflight then wrapped his wing around Sunny to comfort her as the dragonets started to leave the building.

"And remember, don't tell anyone what you saw tonight, otherwise my entire family will be at risk." said Smolder."Don't worry, we can keep a secret." said Clay. The dragonets then said their goodbyes and took to the sky, leaving Smolder and his family behind.

After a bit of flying, they were reaching the border of the sand kingdom."So, where do we go now?" asked Sunny."I don't know maybe we ca-" Tsunami was cut off by an explosion coming out of nowhere blasting the dragonets out of the sky and Clay,Glory,Starflight and Sunny fell into the river near the border and started to float down stream unconscious .

While Tsunami landed on the bank nearby, she was about to pass out when she saw seawings land in front of her, one of them said."Alert Commander Shark of our capture, the missing princess is coming home." Those were the last words she heard before passing out.

LATER.

The rest of the dragonets washed up at the end of the river, where a nightwing and icewing found them."So, you sure these are the dragonets who were with Tsunami?" asked the Nightwing."Yes Shadowwalker, I am sure besides you don't see a group like this around often." said Snowstorm.

"Thats what they say about our group dear." said Shadowwalker wrapping his wing around her. Then Kraken from before landed near them."So, these the dragonets?" asked Kraken.

"Yes, Inform the commander that we will be bringing guest back to our camp."
