Chapter 8:Capture the flag

I woke up and wondered how long I had been asleep. There was a sticky note written on my forehead and I started to read it. It took me about 20-30 minutes to read it because dyslexia exists and evidently the person who wrote hated writing it because there multiple scribbled out words next to the schedule.

"Hey, sleeping beauty, here's the schedule for today if you want to know where we are. Join when you feel like it.

Breakfast:8:00-8:20
Archery range 8:30-9:30
Architecture:9:40-10:40
The ring 10:50-11:50
Lunch: 12-12:30
Free time: 12:30-16:00

I looked at the clock and saw red 10:48 on the clock. I grabbed my necklace and ran out the door, forgetting my shoes and then having to run back and grab them. I got them on and ran out towards the ring.

I got there just in time as Luke was showing everybody a disarming technique on Percy. I stood in the back of the group and watched as Luke tried it.
"So you want to put the hilt here." He said putting his hilt on the hand guard of Percy's sword.
"Then you want to twist." And as he did this the blade came out of Percy's hands.

"Ok, so everyone partner up and practice that technique."

I walked up to Percy as he went to pick up his sword.
"Wanna be partners?" I asked
"Sure why not?" He responded as he grabbed the sword.
We then proceeded to practice the technique and we finally managed to get it as my sword popped out of my hands and I looked back at Percy who was smiling. I walked over and grabbed the sword.
"Nice one." I said trying to figure out how he did it.
"So you just have to-" He started but got cutoff by Luke calling the group back together.
"Everyone, water break and then meet me in the center of the ring."

I didn't have a water so I walked up to Luke and asked if I could borrow his since he wasn't drinking any. He replied with a go ahead. I took and doused my head with water clearing my thoughts. I'm guessing Percy saw me and did the same. After he did his eyes seemed more blue, his movements seemed more deliberate and he held his sword with more confidence. I got up and walked towards the group that had now convened around Luke.

"Ok, does anyone want to try it against me?"
Unsurprisingly no hands went up.
"Well, we'll start with who started the day. Percy will you join me?"
Percy walked up to Luke and they got into their fighting stances.
"3"
"2"
"1"
Percy lunged at Luke trying to catch him by surprise. It worked to an extent as Luke wasn't ready for this aggression. Luke parried Percy's attack and then retreated trying to do what he did against me earlier. He just wanted to figure out what had gotten into him.

Percy acted like he only had this aggression for a few seconds. He got Luke on the ropes at this point but Percy's movements got more and more sluggish. At this moment Percy tried the disarming technique and actually pulled it off.

Everyone was in awe and Percy looked at his hands trying to figure out how he did it.
"Beginner's luck!!" I heard someone say from behind me.
"Shall we test that?" Luke said as Percy nodded

The fight broke out as Luke lunged at Percy and this time Percy barely got the sword to block it and Luke did the technique and disarmed him within 4 seconds.

"Beginner's luuuuuuck!!!" More people started saying.
"QUIET!!!!" Luke yelled at them
"Go to the Dining Pavilion."

I walked over and heard Luke and Percy talking.
"How the Hades did you do that? That was incredible." Luke said congratulating him
"I don't know." Percy stated shrugging
"Imagine what you could do with a balanced sword."
"Am I interrupting a mentor-student moment?" I asked entering the conversation.
"There is sleeping beauty in the flesh." Luke jokingly said.
"Very funny." I replied
"We should head for lunch. C'mon I'm, starving." Percy said before we headed off.
