I walked after Annabeth and caught up to her right before she stepped onto the wooden dock.
"So you come out here often?" I asked
"Almost every morning. It helps me process information." She replied gazing up.
"The stars almost look like they listen to me."
She continued.I looked up and saw what she meant. A few of the stars looked like eyes staring at you giving you their undivided attention. I stood there for a moment, studying the sky. It was beautiful.
"Who's bow was that? I hadn't seen anything like that. Was that from your mother?...." Annabeth eventually just started shooting off questions.
"Annabeth, I can't understand you when you talk like that" I said stopping her.
"It was a gift from my mother an-..it's better if I just show you." I said I looked down at my necklace but the bird was different. The bird was now a hawk instead of a falcon
"Say μισοφέγγαρα" Artemis' voice played in my head.
"μισοφέγγαρα." I said and watched as the hawk turned into two curved daggers each measuring about 11 inches. HAVE I EVER MENTIONED HOW AWESOME THIS IS.
"The two daggers makes sense after the figurine was a hawk. Harris hawks are known for their hunting in groups..." Annabeth rambled on about hawks and such.
"Thank you." I thought while looking at the moon slowly setting.
I then looked at my necklace and the engraving translated to "No thanks needed my child."
The sun was up before I knew it and that meant that it was around 7:23. Recently I've gotten better at just knowing when the night ended . I guess that's a perk of being a son of Artemis. Something weird happened with the weather. Several storm clouds rolled in over the horizon and were above us now. It didn't rain but I could tell Annabeth had never seen anything like this.
I soon got up from the dock.
"I'm gonna try these daggers out. Before it rains" I told her before running off to the ring.Right before I went to the ring I dropped by my cabin and grabbed a few waters. Knowing I was gonna be tired by the end of this
When I got there I found Percy already there drenched in sweat as he was being taught one on ones with Luke.
Luke was uncapping a half drunken water while Percy was trying to get a droplet of water from the bottom of his bottle.
"Hey, water boy!" I said throwing him a water.
He didn't even drink the water he just uncapped it and doused himself with it.
I guess that works. For him at least
"Thanks, Bird boy." Percy said laughing.
"Ouch." I said, replying to his comment. I started to examine the daggers for the designs on them.
I didn't see anything on these except green-tinted steel. Well that's interesting.I held one dagger in reverse grip and one in forward grip as I launched at the training dummy.
I didn't even consciously make any attacks it kinda just flowed together. Thing is I don't even remember most of it. One of the things I do remember is that after a few attacks I went for the head and decapitated it with one swing of my right, reverse gripped, dagger.
"That dummy isn't messing with anyone soon." I heard Percy say while he was drinking another one of my waters.
"Percy!! Y/N!!" I heard a voice that I hadn't heard before.
"What's up, Grover?" I heard Percy say only slightly out of breath.
"Mr.D wants both of you." Grover sounding like he was already writing our eulogy.
"Fantastic!" Me and Percy both said sarcastically."Ανατολή ηλίου" I said and watched as the daggers turned into two wooden hawks. The hawks then did a courtship dance. It was actually surprisingly entertaining. Eventually their dance ended as both of them merged into one hawk and gently put the string around the back of my neck.
Me and Percy walked towards the big house. I could tell Percy was anxious. Me on the other hand, I was slightly excited because I have never, in-person, talked to a god and I wanted to know what he was like. But from the stories I heard it didn't sound like he was a nice person.
We walked up the porch and found Chiron and Dionysus were playing a card game I didn't recognize with two other satyrs.
"Oh look it's our celebrities." Mr.D said without looking up.
"I would love to blow both of you up right where you stand and we would be done with tons of trouble but Chiron has persuaded me not to." Mr.D continued. I'm beginning to see why everyone disliked him.
"I've decided on turning you into a dolphin.."he said gesturing to Percy," and you into a deer." gesturing to me,"nevertheless there is one more option and while I'm off at the Olympus meeting, Chiron will brief you on this little suicide mission of yours. But remember if you two are still here you will be swimming and galloping back to your parents."He finished. Ending his little speech. He stood up while the satyrs put down the cards in their hands. Dionysus then took one of the cards and turned it into a... credit card? No more like a security pass.
"Y/N , Percy and Grover. Sit please." Chiron gestured toward the chairs that were once occupied by the satyrs and Dionysus.
"Percy what did you think about the hellhound." Chiron asked staring at Percy with an unwavering focus.
"I was scared, it just stared at me like I was a juicy steak. I didn't know what to do." He replied his voice shaking a little."And you?" Chiron said turning to me.
"I just took a shot. The dog didn't seem interested with me, just Percy, but as soon as it leaped at him I shot it." I replied
"Well, you will have to fight more of those before you're done."
"With what?" Me and Percy said at the same time.
"Your quest of course." Chiron said as if it was obvious. So that was the suicide mission Dionysus was talking about.
"But you haven't told me what it's about." Percy said.
"Well, that's the difficult part. The details." He said grimacing
I looked over at Percy. He was watching the sea and storm intensely
"Zeus and Poseidon they're fighting over something important. Something that was stolen." Percy said almost involuntarily.Chiron and Grover exchanged looks.
"How did you know that?" Chiron said leaning forward in his fake wheelchair.
"Well, the storm and the sea looked as if they were fighting, Annabeth told me about a theft and I've been having these dreams." Percy explained while his face was red.
"I knew it!" Grover exclaimed
"Hush satyr." Chiron ordered
"But it's his quest!" Grover said almost excited
"Only the Oracle can determine." Chiron said absentmindedly stroking his beard in almost a soothing matter.
At this point I felt out of place. Why should I even be here? It only revolves around Percy.
I must wehave zoned out through the conversation while looking off the porch. It started to rain. How could it be raining? I snapped out of my thoughts and turned my focus back to the conversation"So I have to return this stupid bolt and stop this war?" What the hell did I miss.
"What better peace offering." Chiron confirmed
"Where is it though?" Percy asked
"I have an idea of where it is and I have a prophecy that could help you but you must accept the quest."
"I accept." Percy said
Chiron finally turned towards me.
"This is Percy's quest isn't it? Why would I be involved?" I asked
"You play a key part in this prophecy." Chiron said almost as if there was another one I was in.
"I guess I'm in."————————————————————————
