We walked out of the attic and dropped down to the floor.
"Let's go to Chiron." I said opening the door for Percy.
We got out onto the porch and saw Grover pacing while Chiron sat there messing with his beard. As soon as we walked out their heads snapped to look at us."Well? What did you guys find?" Grover asked having aluminum spill out of his mouth. Probably from a can he was eating earlier.
Chiron was now staring at us with a very intrigued look.
"The oracle told us that we would go west and return the bolt." Percy stated summarizing the first part of the prophecy."What did it say exactly?" Chiron asked," the oracle's words typically have double meanings. He finished.
Percy cleared his throat before restating the prophecy," You shall go west and face the god who has turned. You shall find what was stolen and see it safely returned.."
"I knew it!!" Grover said excitedly.
Nobody reacted to Grover's interjection"Was that all that was spoken." Chiron asked.
"Yes sir." Percy replied
"Very well." Chiron said"You both depart tomorrow. You can bring two people along with you. So decide between yourselves who will be your companions." Chiron said before wheeling his way into the house before shutting the door
"Discuss this after dinner?" Percy asked
I simply nodded and he walked off back to the ring. Thankfully, the weather has cleared up and wasn't down pouring anymore."This is fantastic." I said in my head as I was spiraling into my mind. "I've been here for only a few days and now I'm being sent on a suicide mission." I kept thinking about this precarious situation while absentmindedly walking towards my cabin.
"Penny for your thoughts?" I heard behind me.
I turned to meet grey eyes staring back at me."I'm just confused." I said looking down seeing that she had her invisibility hat in her hand.
"You were eavesdropping weren't you?" I asked already knowing the answer.
"Quite possibly." She said while twiddling her thumbs trying to act innocent.
"You want to come along, don't you?" I asked, again already knowing the answer.
"Y/N, I've been cooped here for almost my whole life. I need to get out of here." She said with a sad tone laced within her voice. I've always been an empathetic person and even though I've never been in her position I felt bad for her."I have to check in with Percy but if he says yes then you can go right ahead." I said before being wrapped in one of the biggest hugs I have ever been a part of. Not gonna lie I kinda enjoyed it.
Annabeth let go of me and then repeatedly said," Thank you, thank you."
"No need for thanks, Annabeth." I said walking away from her towards my cabin. As soon as I got to my cabin I started packing a backpack with all of my stuff.
I put in multiple waters and clothes other than that there was nothing. I didn't realize how little I had until I was just sitting there only two minutes into packing and I was already done.
This made me start to get homesick. Man, I missed my room. I thought back just a few days ago to when I woke up in my room just wanting to get through school to get to my presents. I missed that. I wonder what dad is doing.
I put my backpack down next to my door and went back outside seeing as the time was... 16:39??? How did the time go that fast? I walked and saw a sun about two hours from setting. Dinner is in an hour and twenty minutes time to burn some time.
I looked at my necklace and saw a falcon.
"πεφταστέρι" I said walking towards the archery range.
The bow was in my hands by the time I made it to the 100 yard line. Guess this is where I'm shooting from.
I pulled back on the bow and tried to relax. I just couldn't relax with all of the information that was just given to me. I tried to settle down but my body would just not comply. I let go of the arrow and hit the fourth ring. That got me even more annoyed.
"Calm down my child."
"No offense, but do you watch me all day? It's just a question." I said trying not to piss of a goddess
"Whenever you grab a bow I see you." She replied.
"Oh"I felt calmer now so I drew the string back. I felt at peace now. Almost as if nothing could disrupt me. I let go and knocked a bullseye.
I did the same thing pulling the string of the bow back and got into the state. I felt the same as earlier. Nobody could disrupt me.
Evidently, Nobody was a person and that person was Luke. I saw him approaching in my peripheral vision. He had a mixed expression on his face.
"Percy told me about it. How are you holding up?"
"I'm a little mixed. I'm happy 'cause I get to prove myself but I'm scared of what I have to face along the road." I answered.
"I've been there." He said as his face scrunched up, as if it was remembering a painful memory."Ανατολή ηλίου" I said watching as the bow shrunk. The falcon did a little circle around me putting the string, that attached to the necklace , around my neck and then stiffening up.
" I will never get over that." Luke said smiling at the necklace.
"Can I try it?" He asked like he was a kid trying to grab the toy from an older brother.
"Sure" I replied handing the necklace to him.He then put it on and looked at me expectantly.
"What do I say?"
"πεφταστέρι" I said just as curious to see if it would work
"πεφταστέρι" he said but nothing happened.
"Worth a shot." He said , disappointed that it didn't work."Who you bringing along for the quest?" He asked trying to get our conversation back on track.
"I don't know yet? But this is Percy's quest. It's his decision." I stated walking over to the target to see how close I was to the black dot in the very middle of the target.
"I guess that is true..." he said but was cut off by the dinner horn that rang through the camp."Talk after dinner?" Luke said while he walked towards the pavilion.
I nodded in response and went towards my table.
