"The oracle is in the attic and assuming that you're still sane we will talk later." Chiron finished before putting in a room with a trapdoor above it. Connected to the trapdoor was a rope that we pulled down which allowed a ladder to fall down.
I climbed up trying to hold my breath to avoid the smells that violated my nose as I climbed up.
When I got to the top I looked around and saw hundreds of different "artifacts" that crowded the room.
The second weirdest one was a giant eye that had a hole in the center of it. Almost like it had been stabbed. The eye sat on a red pillow and looked almost polished like it was prepared for a show and tell. It was titled,"Cyclops' eye. Taken by Nobody." Well that makes no sense.
But that was nothing compared to the weirdest thing in that attic.m which happened to be a mummy. It looked like something you would see at a haunted house party but more... decayed it just screamed zombie and that was before it sat up and spoke.
As soon as the mummy opened her mouth Percy stumbled back and tried to go for the trapdoor but it shut.
"I am the spirit of Delphi, speaker of the prophecies of Phoebus Apollo, slayer of the nighty python. Approach seeker and ask." The mummy said while looking blankly in front of itself and having green mist pouring out of its mouth.
It said it was the slayer of the "mighty python" but I'm pretty sure it was the python just based on its voice. I could practically hear it saying,"trust in me." While bearing its fangs.
"What is my destiny?" I heard Percy say behind me I guess he got his courage before I did
The mist on the ground gathered and went to the table. The mist turned into 4 men sitting around a table playing cards. I didn't recognize any of them but evidently Percy did.
He clenched both of his fists at the sight of one of them.
One of them opened their mouths and spoke in the Oracle's voice,
"You shall go west to face the god who has turned." He finished before his friend to the right of him opened his mouth,"You shall find what is stolen and see it safely returned."
The other two took turns talking.
"You shall lose two that you would call a friend." Said the one on the left as he threw two poker chips in.
"And you shall fail to save what matters most in the end." Said the one furthest from me as the mist recoiled like a snake into the Oracle's mouth.
"Wh-what friends? What will I fail to save? Wha-?" I heard Percy sputter out behind me.
And just like that the attic was as silent as a graveyard. The Oracle looked like it hadn't moved for centuries.
"Well that was interesting." I said trying to break the tension.
The trapdoor then dropped open as we both jumped almost 7 feet in the air.
"You can say that again."
