We all walked down the other side of the hill. Well me, Percy and Grover were walking while Annabeth stormed off because of my comment.

Well, either way we all made our way down the hill before Percy stopped and looked at the flying shoes.

"I won't be able to use these will I?" He asked looking at Chiron

Chiron shook his head," I'm sure Luke meant well but it would be unwise taking to the air."

Percy turned to us with a grin,"Raise your hand if you want some flying shoes."

My hand shot up immediately right before Grover's. Percy gave me the shoes while slightly laughing at how fast my arm went up. I took the shoes and tied them up.

"Maia." I said and almost yelped in surprise as I went flying into a tree.  The shoes then stopped flying and made me go straight to the ground
"Oww." I yelled gripping the side of my body that hit the tree. I heard sniggering behind me and turned to see Grover and Percy practically rolling down the hill in laughter

"Practice, child." I heard Chiron's voice behind me.

"Yeah, practice.... Maia."

The shoes sprung to life and to my surprise it was going well. For about 3 seconds. I guess I leaned too far to the left and went flying (literally) towards the van.

"Y/N!!" I heard Grover's voice from below.

"Maia!" I screamed and the wings retracted from the shoes and stopped making me accelerate.

Now the shoes were no longer making me accelerate but gravity had other plans. I landed near the midway point of the hill and rolled to the very bottom.

"I'm beginning to really not like these shoes." I said as I dusted myself off.

I heard clipping footsteps behind me and saw Grover running towards me.

"Are you alright?"
"Oh I've never been better!"

I looked behind Grover and saw Percy and Chiron in a conversation. I couldn't hear what they were saying but based on Chiron's facial expression I could tell it was about something with a bad history.

All of a sudden I saw Percy launch a pen down the hill. I watched it land in the grass and it then just... vanished. I turned my attention back to Percy and saw him pull the same pen out of his pocket. That's gonna need an explanation.

Percy then started making his way down the hill while Chiron (who was in full horse form at this point) had his bow in a salute. Ahh, normal days

I opened the door on the right side, let Grover in before me and got in. I stared out the window and didn't even noticed we moved until we got onto the highway. I looked to my right and saw Percy and Annabeth sat next to each other (oh this should be free entertainment).

"So far so good. 10 miles and not a single monster." Percy stared out the window.

"It's bad luck to talk that way, seaweed brain."

"Why do you hate me?" Percy genuinely asked

"I don't hate you."

"Could have fooled me."

Annabeth sighed,"Look, our parents are rivals."

I leaned over to Grover and whispered,"I bet you she'll bring up the olive tree.

I turned back to the conversation.

"Another time Athena and Poseidon competed to be the patron god for Athens. Your dad created a stupid slat water fountain while my mom created the olive tree."

I leaned back to Grover who was already laughing,"Told ya."

Traffic was slow and by the time we got into Manhattan the rain that was falling was being illuminated by the setting sun.

Argus dropped us off at the Greyhound station and unloaded our bags. I swear I saw percy crumpling up something but didn't bother to check what it was. I grabbed my backpack and put it on my shoulder. I turned around to see a glimpse of gray eyes as she was messing with her necklace. She seemed in discomfort so I asked,

"Are you okay?"

"Oh, uh, ye- yeah I'm fine." She said somewhat stumbling over her words.

"Annabeth.." I said

"I'm fine I promise."
I raised my brow.

I heard Percy's voice behind us,
"Come on, owl heads. We have a bus to catch."

We all followed Percy to the nearest bus stop where we sat there for about 20 minutes. We eventually grew restless of just sitting there so we decided to play Hacky Sack while we waited. We grabbed an apple and started playing.

Annabeth was amazing. She could bounce the apple off of her knee, her shoulder... anywhere. We couldn't finish the game however because Percy threw the apple a little bit too close to Grover's mouth. That ended how you'd expect.. with no more apple. We laughed for a good 30 seconds after watching that happen.

Finally the bus arrived and I could tell that something was up with Grover. He constantly sniffed the air and checked over his back.

"What's up?" Percy asked. Most likely noticing what I was noticing.

"It's probably nothing." That put me on more of an edge.

I glanced towards my necklace and saw that it was a falcon.

"πεφταστέρι." I repeated in my mind imprinting it. To make sure that if anything happened that's what I would say.

We finally got on board and took a seat at the back of the bus. We stowed our backpacks and waited for the bus to depart. Right before the bus could depart however I felt Annabeth grab my forearm tightly.

"Oh no." She said quietly. She must have realized where her hand was because she let go immediately and tapped on Percy's shoulder.

"Percy." She whispered. I looked at where she was looking and saw an old lady board the bus. She had dark circles around her eyes as if she hadn't slept in years. In her right hand was a leather purse that seemed too big to be just a purse.

Percy seemed to recognize her as he tightened his posture.

Two more women got on the bus looking almost exactly the same except for the colors of their hats.

They sat at the front of the bus right behind the driver and made an x with their legs.

"What is going on?" I whispered to Annabeth who was sitting up straight and was nervously fiddling with her hat.

"The kindly ones." She whispered grimly as if the women could hear from all the way up there.

"The kindly ones..." I repeated in my head trying to figure out what it was.

Oh no. I connected the dots. Oh we're so dead.
