7. Life Changes

Since Lucy didn't expect to get any sleep, her and Five stayed up most of the night talking in the lobby. And by the end of the night, she was able to withstand physical touch from him, without flinching.
She was only making baby steps on the road to healing her fractured mind, but Five was proud of her nonetheless.
Lucy was in a good mood the next morning because of the steps she'd taken the night before. That was until Allison turned up in tears, after finding out that Claire didn't exist in this timeline.
Allison had then returned to their bedroom alone, and asked the others not to disturb her.
Lucy didn't want to leave her sister alone when she was so distressed, but she decided to respect Allison's wishes.

Another big development in the siblings lives was the arrival of a 12 year old boy named Stan, who was apparently Diego's son.
"So, let me get this straight, that little delinquent, is your son?" Questioned Klaus.
"Alleged son, but yeah" answered Diego.
"Ha, that's so funny. You're a father now" chuckled Klaus.
"Wait, who's the mother?" Asked Five, as he joined their table.
Lucy found it strange to see Five in normal clothes, as he had been wearing the Umbrella Academy uniform, ever since coming back into her life.

"Lila is the mother" sighed Diego.
"Wait, Lila is here?" Frowned Five.
"Was here. She dropped him on my lap last night and then bolted" explained Diego.
"I don't much care for that woman" admitted Klaus.
"Well, technically she's family" reminded Five.
"She tried to kill us, like yesterday" countered Klaus.
"Yeah, like I said, family" replied Five.
"He's got a point" agreed Lucy.
"Diego, is she coming back?" Quizzed Five.
"She'd better be, because we've got more important things to be dealing with right now" shouted Diego, as he looked over at the table Stan was sat on.
"Shh" hissed Klaus, as people started to stare at them.

A moment later Vanya walked in, with her hair shorter than Lucy had ever seen it.
She also looked lighter, and happier than she ever had before.
"Where's Luther?" Asked Vanya.
"Out for a run" answered Lucy.
"Love the haircut" complimented Klaus.
"Thanks... Anyway, I talked to Marcus last night" revealed Vanya.
"Wait, you talked to the enemy, by yourself?" frowned Diego.
"Yes" answered Vanya.
Five raised an eyebrow at Lucy, "You said she was asleep in your room last night".
"I may have lied" admitted Lucy awkwardly.

"You lied, to me?" Questioned Five, not believing what he was hearing.
"I'm sorry. But I did what I thought was best" apologised Lucy.
"Look, don't be angry with her, I made Lucy keep quiet about what I was up to, because I knew you guys wouldn't approve. But I couldn't just sit back and do nothing. Someone had to do something" announced Vanya.
"You don't speak for us. Who exactly elected you as our leader, Vanya?" Questioned Diego.

Vanya sighed and took a deep breath, "It's Viktor now".
"Who's Viktor?" Questioned Diego.
"Me. It's who I've always been" revealed Vanya/Viktor.
Everyone around the table stopped eating, in complete shock at this new development. And an awkward silence formed around them.
"You mean you want us to call you Viktor now, instead of Vanya?" Asked Lucy.
"Yes please" answered Viktor.
"And would you like us to use he/him pronouns as well?" Questioned Lucy.
"Yes. I trust that's not a problem for anyone is it?"
"You will always be my sibling, whether you're my sister or my brother. We are a family, and nothing will ever change that"
"Thanks. Guys, you don't mind do you?".

"Na, I'm cool with it" mumbled Diego.
"Me too" smiled Klaus.
"I'm truelly happy for you Viktor, really I am. But last time I checked, you don't speak for this family" said Five cooly, as he reminded them all of what Viktor had done.
"Don't worry, it's all sorted. Look, Marcus doesn't want a war anymore than we do" insisted Viktor.
"What are you talking about? Him and his siblings tried to homicide us" reminded Diego.
"So did Lila, and you had a kid with her" grinned Klaus.
"That's not the point" replied Diego.

"Look, it's all going to be fine. We made a deal. He's going to give us Five's briefcase, and we are going to get out of the timeline" announced Viktor.
"Wait what?" Frowned Lucy.
She wasn't in the mood for any more time travelling adventures, because they never ended well for her.
"Me and Marcus are meeting up later for the hand over" explained Viktor.
"Yes. Hallelujah" said Klaus, as he fist punched the air.
"You told me you were going to sort things out with Marcus, and stop this stupid war. You didn't say anything about changing the timeline again" frowned Lucy.
"You knew I was interested in getting the briefcase back as well, so you must have known that there would be more time travel involved" replied Viktor.

"The guy is playing you" insisted Diego.
"Why do you always have to think the worst of people?" Groaned Viktor.
"Because I'm always right. But maybe we can use this to our advantage, and wipe them off the face of the earth, when their guard is down and they least expect it" replied Diego.
"I would prefer it if we didn't add any more blood to our ledgers. Which is why I wanted to avoid another fight with the Sparrows" admitted Lucy.
"She's right. Look Diego, you are not going to do anything today" instructed Viktor.
"Except bond with your spawn" teased Klaus.
"Alleged spawn" corrected Diego.

"I will get the briefcase later, and together we can all go back and fix the timeline" announced Viktor.
Lucy shuddered at the thought of going back in time and changing things, but she was pretty sure that Five was the only one who noticed her discomfort.
"Woh, we are not going anywhere. This is a perfectly acceptable timeline" insisted Five.
Lucy shot him a grateful smile, since he knew that she would rather do anything, than travel in time again.
"Why don't you say that to Allison, who is upstairs grieving her daughter who doesn't exist in this timeline" snapped Viktor.
"Not to mention the fact that we've been replaced by a bunch of blobs, and cubes, and birds, and shit" added Diego.

"Newsflash genius's. It isn't all about us. Look around you. There is no more doomsday. No more apocalypse. The sun in shinning, and birds are doing whatever the hell birds do. We are done messing with time. And I, am officially retired" informed Five, as he got up from the table and headed back towards the buffet.
Klaus got up to follow him, and as he did, the power in the building went off.
Lucy was instantly put on high alert, but a moment later the power came back.
"Weird time of day for a power cut" mumbled Klaus, before going off to join Five.

"Diego, I think you need to go and control your kid" sighed Lucy, as she pointed to where Stan and Chet were getting into an argument.
"Shit" groaned Diego, before getting off the table to break up the fight.
"I'm going to get some food for Allison" announced Viktor.
"I should come with you, to check on her" replied Lucy, as she followed Viktor towards the buffet table.

Once her and Viktor had filled a tray of food for Allison, they began to head towards the stairs.
But before they could make their way up, Five stopped them.
"What's up?" Questioned Lucy.
"Klaus wants to go on a roadtrip, and for some reason he wants me to go with him. Since I am retired, and that's the kind of thing people who are retired do. But I told him I wouldn't go, unless you said it was O.K, since I don't want to leave you when you need me most" informed Five.
"I'll be fine. You should go" encouraged Lucy.
"Are you sure?" Asked Five.

"Positive. Now that we know about our twin connection, I'm sure you will be able to sense if I am in danger, so you will be able to Blink to my side if there is a problem. There are also plently of phones in this timeline that you can use to get in contact with me. So, as long as you don't leave this timeline, I don't mind if you travel to the other side of the world... Besides, I'm not really a road trip kind of person. So, you and Klaus should go and have some brotherly bonding time together. I need to stay here with Allison anyway. She was there for me when I was at my lowest, so I need to return the favor. She needs me right now, more than you do" admitted Lucy.
"Alright. Well, stay safe. Don't do anything stupid. And call me if there is a problem" replied Five.
"I will. Have fun Five"
"I will certainly try my best".
