26. Daddy's Back

Later that day, the Umbrellas and the Sparrows came together, so that Sloane could hand out the wedding decorations she had made.
"Wow, you made all these by yourself" praised Lila.
"Well, Luther helped. We stayed up all night making them" informed Sloane.
"Amazing" replied Lila.
The sound of footsteps approaching made everyone turn their heads. And when they did, they saw Reginald Hargreeves and Klaus making their way towards them.

"Dad!" Gasped Ben.
"Klaus" sighed Allison.
"Hey guys" ginned Klaus.
"Thank God you're still alive" replied Viktor.
Lucy sprung at Klaus and hugged him tight, "Where the hell have you been? I've been worried sick".
"Sorry, me and dad got all caught up on our little father and son, end of the world, road trip" admitted Klaus, as Lucy released him and headed back towards Five.
"You two are hanging out now?" Questioned Ben.
"Yep. We laughed, we cried, we played- in traffic. And long story short, I'm immortal now" announced Klaus.

"You're what now?" Questioned Luther.
"Klaus, have you gotten into the bath salts again?" Asked Allison.
"I think the more potenant question is why are you all sitting around playing with jars?" Quizzed Reginald.
"They're invitations" explained Sloane.
"And no one is playing" added Luther.
"Luther and I are getting married" finished Sloane, as she handed Reginald one of the decorated invitation jars.

"All of space and time is collapsing and you lot are planning a wedding?" Scolded Reginald.
"Yes, and the thing is, space is rather limited. So, you're not invited" informed Luther, as he took the decoration off of Reginald.
"Is this how I raised you? To fiddle about while Rome burns?" Questioned Reginald.
"Easy now. Remember what we talked about" hissed Klaus.
"Quiet now, I'm on a roll" insisted Reginald.

"Dad, have you been taking your pills?" Asked Sloane.
"No, I have not. And I can definitively say, I've never felt better in all my life. You thought you could dope me up and slow me down. Take control of my affairs and squander my fortune. Well, Klaus here, was good enough to wean me off that wretched poison. And now that the fog has lifted, I can see all of your dastardly designs, with a bracing clarity" announced Reginald.
"You took him off his meds? What were you thinking?" Sloane asked Klaus.
"Clearly he's the only one doing any thinking. You could all learn a thing or too from this impressive young man" informed Reginald.

Ben rolled his eyes and Diego began to laugh.
"Oh my God, the world really is ending" chuckled Diego.
"I can't believe dad just praised Klaus. I feel like I've stepped into some strange alternative reality. Which, all things considered, isn't that big of a stretch" admitted Lucy.
"I feel exactly the same as you, sis" replied Diego.

"For the rest of you, your training resumes, post-haste. We are running out of time, and we still have a mission to complete" said Reginald.
"I'm ready" announced Ben.
"Perfect" replied Reginald.
"Let me guess, Project Oblivian" said Five calmly.
Reginald frowned, "How do you know about that?".
"I heard all about it from Pogo" answered Five.
"Now there's a name I haven't heard in some time" sighed Reginald.
"And he confirmed what I always suspected about you".

"Which is?" Questioned Reginald.
"That you're a sadistic lunatic, who's planning on gambling all of our lives in another pointless mission" replied Five.
"And you'd take the word of a disgruntled old chimp, over that of your own father?" Quizzed Reginald.
Five smiled and Blinked over to Reginald, so that he was standing directly in front of him.
"Every damn day" announced Five.

"Look, none of us want you here, dad. So you should leave" instructed Luther.
"Hey, you don't speak for all of us, big guy" countered Ben.
"Feel free to join him" replied Luther coldly.
"I see. So, this is what it's come to? Insurrection" frowned Reginald.
"Hey, that's not the kind of erection we are going for, alright. Everyone needs to just be cool. Clearly you guys are all on a different chakra frequency to us right now... Pops, why don't you and I have a nice cup of tea in your suite" interceded Klaus.

Klaus then took hold of Reginald's arm and began pulling him out of the room.
"Oh, by the way, Luther, Sloane, I'm thrilled for you both. Send me your registry" said Klaus, before disappearing from view.
"Is anyone else just as confused as I am? I mean, since when were Klaus and dad bffs?" Questioned Lucy.
"They've clearly bonded while the rest of us were fighting amongst ourselves" sighed Five.
"I need to talk to dad" announced Ben, before storming off after Reginald and Klaus.

Diego got up to go as well.
"Hey, where are you going?" Asked Lucy.
"I need to think" answered Diego, before leaving with Lila following right behind him.
Lucy wanted to talk to Five further about Project Oblivian, and what that meant for them all, but before she could approach him, Sloane made her way towards her.
"I was wondering if you could join me in my room, so that I can make sure your dress fits you perfectly" said Sloane.
"Yeah, sure, why not. I am your maid or honour afterall. Can't have my outfit looking below par" sighed Lucy.
"Perfect. Lets go" replied Sloane, before excitedly pulling Lucy out of the room.
