35. It's The End Of The World

Lucy and Viktor followed Five through the maze of corridors until they reached the White Buffalo suite, where the screams had come from.
As they stepped into the room, they realised they were the last of their siblings to arrive.
It didn't take long for them to work out who had screamed, and why.
Sloane was sat on the floor, with tears in her eyes and Luther's unmoving body across her lap.
Luther had a large slice across his chest, and his blood stained the white carpet around him.

"Oh my God, Luther" gasped Viktor, as he hand shot to cover his mouth.
Lucy screamed and dropped to her knees by Luther's side.
"No! LUTHER! LUTHER!" yelled Lucy, as she took hold of one of Luther's cold hands.
"What happened?" Questioned Five.
"I don't know. He went to get ice. And he didn't come back, so I went looking for him, and found him like this" sobbed Sloane.

Lucy knew the world was about to end, but seeing her brother's bloody body, broke her heart.
They were all supposed to die at the same time. She was not supposed to lose any of her family members before their time.
Especially not before she had the chance to say goodbye to them all.
Luther had just got married, and they had all been so happy, which is why she couldn't bare to see him like this.
She jumped off the floor and threw herself into Five's arms, burrying her face into his shoulder, so that no one would see her cry.

"He must have been killed by the guardian" Lila said quietly, as she gestured to the portrait on the wall that had swung open, revealing the secret passage on the other side, which led into the next world.
"She's right. Whoever did this had a long curved blade, like the thing that took off my fingers" replied Diego, as he bent down and examined the slash across Luther's chest.
"How can you be sure?" Asked Viktor.
"I may not know much, but I do know knives" answered Diego.

"Children, what's going on? Dear God, Luther!" Gasped Reginald as he ran into the room.
"If we had attacked first, Luther would still be alive right now" Ben said angrily.
"That kind of thinking is not helpful right now" replied Viktor.
Suddenly the whole building began to shake, and the sounds of explosions began to get closer, making everyone jump.
Lucy clutched Five tightly, afraid that he would also be taken from her.
Ben ran to the door and peaked his head down the corridor, before returning with a terrified expression on his face.
"Err guys, guys, the hotel is blowing up" revealed Ben, causing everyone in the room to panic.

"What are we going to do with Luther?" Asked Sloane.
"We're out of time, the Kugelblitz is here!" Announced Five.
"Right, everyone into the passage, it's the only way" instructed Reginald, as he began ushering everyone towards the portal in the wall.
"You agreed to stay" Viktor reminded Diego.
"Yeah, but that thing killed Luther, we need to get revenge" insisted Diego, before running off into the passageway after Lila.

"Come on children, hurry" encouraged Reginald, as Ben headed down the tunnel.
"I can't leave him" cried Sloane, as she hung tight to Luther.
"You must" replied Allison.
"I can't!" Shouted Sloane.
"You have to, or you are going to die" instructed Allison, as she prised Sloane off of Luther's body, and pushed her into the tunnel.
She then looked over her shoulder at Lucy, who hadn't moved.
"Are you coming?" She asked.
"I'm not going anywhere with you" snapped Lucy, who hadn't forgiven Allison for her treachery.
"Don't be the only one to die here, just because you're too mad to come with me" replied Allison.

Lucy looked at her brother, "Five, what are we going to do?".
"I don't know, I haven't got enough time to think" answered Five.
"Come on, what are you waiting for?" Questioned Klaus, as he began ushering them towards the tunnel.
"Five?" Shouted Lucy, as she found herself being herded into the passageway.
"Eugh, fine. But this isn't over old man" Five snapped at Reginald, before following Lucy and everyone else through the portal.

When they exited on the other side, they found themselves in a replica of the room they had just left, except that everything was backwards.
"Well, let's never do that again" panted Viktor, as he tried to get his breath back.
"What, narrowly escape the apocalypse?" joked Five.
"He's right, it is kind of our thing" admitted Diego, as he began to scout around for danger.

"There's something very disturbing about that" commented Allison, as she pointed to the buffalo on the wall, which was now just an ass instead of head.
"Same suite, just ass backwards" explained Lila.
"Yeah, there's no hyperbole there" mumbled Five.
"This is some hardcore Alice in Wonderland shit" announced Ben.
"And it only gets weirder" informed Diego.

Reginald suddenly sprinted out of the portal, and shut the door behind him.
"At last, the other side" gasped Reginald.
"Where's Klaus?" Frowned Lucy.
"I'm so sorry children, but I couldn't save your brother. I tried everything I could, but he just didn't get to the doorway in time. The Kugelblitz has claimed its last victim" announced Reginald.
"No! He's not dead! We have to go back and get him" countered Lucy.
"I'm afraid there is nothing there to go back to. That world is gone now".

"Klaus was right behind me and Lucy in the tunnel, there is no way he didn't make it in time" said Five suspiciously.
"Look, we'll have time for tears and questions later, but right now we have work to do" announced Reginald, before striding out of the room.
"Luther and now Klaus" mumbled Viktor.
Lucy screamed in anger and threw one of her knives into the wall, before marching over and fetching it.
"If this day costs me any more siblings, someone is going to pay" revealed Lucy, before pulling out her knife, while glaring at Allison, and then storming out of the room after Reginald, with the rest of her siblings at her back.
