Luckily the Hargreeves siblings all made it out of the Academy in one piece, and back to the hotel. Fei and Christopher were the only ones in the building who had been killed.
The Kugelblitz had disintegrated every living thing on the earth, except for the Hargreeves siblings, and the hotel manager Chet.
After failing to save the world, all of them were in a pretty foul mood.
But despite this, they all convened in the lobby the following morning, to discuss what they should do next.
Allison was present at this meeting, but both Lucy and Viktor were sat as far away from her as possible."So, how is it that we're still here, when the entire universe has gone down the cosmic shitter?" Questioned Allison.
"Maybe we're just the last things to get flushed" suggested Viktor.
"I wasn't talking to you" Allison said coldly.
"Watch it" hissed Lucy.
"Has anyone seen Klaus?" Asked Luther, as he tried to intervene before another argument erupted.
"Or dad?" Added Sloane, who was sat beside Luther, locked in his embrace."They'll be here" insisted Diego.
"Oh really? Did they get held up in traffic?... Listen, we are the only ones still alive, because we are special. And it's up to us to save the world" announced Ben.
"Question, didn't we just try that? And fail miserably?" Quizzed Allison.
"That's because his plan was shit" informed Diego, pointing at Ben.
"Oh really" frowned Ben, as he walked over to Diego.
The two then began arguing loudly, and shouting at each other in different languages."Hey! You two, knock it off, the universe is disappearing outside, as we speak. You can keep rearranging the deck chairs of the titanic if it makes you feel better. But the truth is, it is too late. We failed" admitted Five.
"Come on Five" pleaded Luther.
"It's over" replied Five.
"It can't be over, over" insisted Viktor.
"Yeah Five, there's got to be something we can do" agreed Diego.
"There must be something we can do to reverse what we've done. I would even risk going back in time again, if it meant saving the world" informed Lucy.
"Really?" Questioned Luther.
"For the sake of the universe, yes" answered Lucy."O.K. Let's take a step back then, and look at the big picture. Most of us have spent the last 28 days trying to save the universe. And what have we achieved?" Questioned Five.
Lucy and her family were silent, as they all knew that they hadn't achieved anything.
"Well, we made some friends along the way" reminded Luther, with a smile.
"Incorrect. We achieved nothing. We made things worse every single time" countered Five.
"Amen to that" mumbled Allison."Look, I went to the Commission, and had a conversation with my 100 year old self. And his last words to me, were don't save the world" revealed Five.
"Don't save the world?" Frowned Viktor.
"Don't save the world" repeated Five.
"That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard" informed Diego."Is it? I mean whatever we are doing, clearly isn't working. Every time we save the world, we pat ourselves on the back, everything is fine for a day, and then everything goes to shit again" admitted Luther.
"Yeah, maybe we're the problem" muttered Viktor.
"Oh yeah, us" Allison said sarcastically.
"Don't make me come over there" threatened Lucy."So wait, your big plan is no plan?" Questioned Lila.
"Exactly. Conscientious objection. Why the hell not? We've tried everything else... Look, maybe this is just what the universe needs. I say embrace the apocalypse and see what's on the other side" suggested Five.
"What if there's nothing?" Sloane asked quietly.
"Then it was nice knowing you all... Whatever is on your bucket list, I suggest you do it now" informed Five."Well, on that super happy note. We've got an announcement to make" revealed Luther.
"We are engaged!" Sloane and Luther shouted in unison.
"Oh God, kill me now" mumbled Ben.
"Idiots" sighed Five.
"Now?" Questioned Allison.
"Look, we know the timing is less than ideal. But it's now or never, right Five?" Grinned Luther.
"Don't drag me into this" groaned Five."Look, whatever time we have left, we want to spend it with all of you guys... So, we would be super pumped if you would all join us in the banquet hall at 6pm, for a celebration of our love, and the official union of what is left of our two great families" smiled Sloane.
"The dress code is creative black tie" added Luther.
"Well, I'm happy for you both" said Lucy, as she made her way over to the love birds, while everyone else began to go their separate ways.
"Thank you, for being so supportive of us" replied Sloane.
"You're welcome" said Lucy."Since all of my sisters are dead, I was wondering if you would do me a favour, and be my maid of honour?" Asked Sloane.
"You want me, to be your maid of honour?" Gasped Lucy.
"Well, you are Luther's sister afterall. And the member of his family that I have gotten on best with" reminded Sloane.
"Yeah, but we don't exactly know each other very well"
"That doesn't matter"
"And me and Luther never got on when we were younger"
"But you were there for him when it really mattered. And you even tried to save me from the rest of your family, when we were still at war. So, for that reason, I want you to be my maid of honour"."I guess you don't have a lot of options left, it being the end of the world and all" sighed Lucy.
"Does that mean you'll do it?" Asked Sloane.
"Sure, why not. I've never been a maid of honour before, so that's one more thing to tick off the bucket list. Although I can't say that I'll be any good at it" admitted Lucy.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you. And don't worry, I will take care of everything. I will sort out the dresses and the flowers. All you have to do is be there for me, and walk me down the aisle"
"Well, that I can do".
