The queen of the water nymphs was the first I could find. There are two kind of nymphs, water and plant. The two nymphs used to always be at war, until we faries came and solved their problems.
It was no surprise she wasn't at the council. Again. The water nymphs hardly ever leave their stream, lake, or pond. Water nymphs are protectors of the water and all that lies in it's depths. The queen sends a lot of representatives to the council in her place. Water nymphs can change into water, so they feel out of place when they leave the water.
The queen's head reaches the surface and stares at me with her water blue eyes, her white hair sticking to her face. "How may I help you warrior?" She sing-says.
"I've come to warn you. The dark ones are going to try and invade." I say.
"Is that why my nymphs tell me the forest's outer edge is trembling?" She says. I shouldn't tell her about the fading magic just yet. "Yes, we believe so, but we are not entirely sure." I start to rise, "Keep safe, the dark ones are unpredictable." She shows no sign of understanding, just submerges under the water.
I fly to find the plant nymph king. Plant nymphs protect the trees and plant life, plant nymphs can hide inside plants. The king wasn't in his tree, he was at the council. It was surprising to hear, both nymphs are really similar. One just watches water, and the other plants.
Since I had no further duties, I flew to the edge to scout. Also to stay out of the city and away from judgemental stares.
As I got closer to the edge the animals that lived there were running to the heart. The animals must since the danger too.
I flew up to a big pine tree and in the very top took purch. I scouted the area below me, looking for any signs of a threat.
Seeing that the lands below were dead to the world I decided to practice my magic.
Fairies have green thumbs. We can make plants grow by touching them. Dark fairies can make plants die by touching them. Both of us fairies can control wether the plant grows or dies when we touch it.
Plucking a pine cone off the branch I willed it to grow a green stem out of it, as Leaf has taught me. But the pine cone just whithered and turn to dust. Sighing I dropped the dust and tried again.
I'm not like most fairies and because of it I get stared at rudely. Some fairies think I'm a dark fairy acting as a spy, others think I'm going to join the dark fairies. I have never been able to make plants grow, they always die, but that's not all. My skin is kissed by sun, but it has a blueish tint to it. My wings are blood red with black patterns that swirl around looking like rose stems with thorns. My dark purple hair frames my face that always looks intimidating and scary. I hardly smile smiles that showing my teeth because they're all sharp and pointy. But the big thing is my eyes
The right one is a vibrant purple. The left one is stormy blue like a dark fairy's eye, all over stormy blue.
They set the other fairies off and make them feel uneasy. But I have proven my worth. Also I was born in the heart like all fairies and had a normal looking fairy mother.
But because every fairy looks at me funny, I don't have many fairy friends. I only have one fairy and that's enough. Leaf is all of the fairy I need. I see no judgement in her leaf green eyes.
The elves are another story. They seem to be all about strange and different. They still don't understand how bad the dark fairies are.
As I was lost in my thoughts I went through about ten pine cones and made no progress. Since I'm a warrior this frustrated me. I threw the pine cone dust down viciously and yelled, "Why is it so difficult?!"
Below me in the tree I heard quiet laughter. The quiet laughter of an elf. Who I knew very well. "Are you trying to do that growing thing again?" Shkya asked climbing up to me. I groaned what sounds like a yes and she laughed again. I looked down at the elf who was swiftly making her way up to me. Her long dirty blonde hair was in what the elves call corn rows which went into a tight bun. She looked up to see how much farther she had to climb and her bright sapphire eyes excepted the challenge.
It amuses me how some elves will run into things head and others won't get their hands durty with things that don't concern them.
"Tell me about the humans again." I say looking out over the dark fairy's lands.
She laughs, "You fairies are so random. Besides I've told you all my human stories." She sits besides me and looks at the dead lands with me.
"Please. Tell me about the story of the two lovers again." I beg her.
She sighs, "Alright, even though I've told you a million times. I need to get you some human books to read." And then she goes into her tale about the two lovers that cannot be together.
