'New York'

Very quickly, Venus realized that this wasn't the pace for her. Sure it was beautiful and there were more places to go than Ohio, but it was also very loud and everything moves so quickly, and Venus didn't like that. She likes calm and quiet, like living in the country or something, but she can't see herself living here. Plus, she already knows what she's doing in the future because Older Sam told her, even though that was still years away.

Nonetheless, Venus liked exploring the city, even though she had to hold on to someone so she wouldn't get lost. She liked to point out the broadway signs and look at the little shops they had. They had passed a book shop and Venus went in without another thought; she came out with five new books.

"A year and a half ago... the New Directions were nothing but a group of seven misfits stumbling their way... through a horrific rendition of 'Sit Down, You're Rockin' the Boat.' Now here we are at the top of the show choir heap. Nationals!" Kurt tells them. "I want to hit up Central Park,

get my frolic on." Tina says. "I want to throw stuff off the Brooklyn Bridge." Puck says, Venus nodding along.

"Guys, hold on. I mean, we still have two songs to write." Finn tells them, putting a damper on their conversation. "Okay, Mr. Bossy Pants. But I think we have some time for a tune before we leave." Kurt says, teasing him. They start a light hearted 'New York, New York' before Rachel came and interrupted, feeling pleased with herself. "Guys, I have news. To celebrate our impending win at nationals... I got us all 13 tickets... to Broadway's longest-running show ever... Cats!" She exclaims, Brittany screaming excitedly.

"You might want to check the dates on those tickets, Rachel... because Cats closed about 11 years ago." Quinn tells her, snarky. "He did seem crazy. He charged my credit card by swiping it through his butt crack." Rachel says, embarrassed as Venus snorts, slapping a hand over her mouth to stifle her laughter.

They were all in a room by themselves with only the walls and themselves for inspiration. Venus was exhausted, leaning back against Sam, dozing off. She'd wake up anytime Sam shifted just in case he wanted her to get off. She opens her eyes to see how everyone else is doing, and catches Mike's eyes, as he throws her a goofy face, her doing one back. "Mike, Venus, stop making faces at each other." Finn tells them. "Shut up." She tells him, relaxing into Sam. He sighs deeply before looking back at his paper.

Venus looks over at her bags with the stuff she bought, before leaning over and grabbing a book. She relaxes back into Sam and reads. Brittany and Artie show off their song 'My Cup' before Quinn stands up and grabs her coat. "We gotta get out of here." She tells them, and Venus gets up, putting her book up and grabbing her own coat, putting it on, then grabs Sams' coat and throws it at him. "Wait. No, no, no. Mr. Schue gave us explicit instructions." Rachel's tells them.

"To write a song. And our problem is... is that our only inspiration are mattresses and bathroom cups." Quinn tells her. "Quinn's right. We're in the artist capital of the world. Poets, musicians, actors, playwrights... every dreamer that's ever lived has passed through this city. If we want our dreams to come true, we need to be out there with them, not stuck in here." Puck agreed.

"Guys, I don't think this is a good idea. I mean, we still got those songs to write. If we don't write them, we're gonna lose." Finn says, anxiously. "No! They're right. Can't you hear the city calling to you?" Lauren says, and Venus tilts her head and cups a hand around her ear, before nodding. "We don't need to write songs for nationals. New York's gonna write them for us." Quinn says.

The boys and Venus were sitting in their room, notebooks on their laps, using New York to write a song. Finn was focused on something else. "Hey, can I try something out on you guys?" He asks tentatively. They nodded, gesturing for Finn to tell them what was on his mind. "I think that one of our songs should be a duet between me and Rachel." He explains "I just want to win." Mike says, throwing a paper airplane at Venus. "And we all know that you two doing a duet is our best shot at that."
