The New Directions were together in the choir room, brainstorming ideas for their mash-off with the Troubletones. The group had amazing ideas that they were eager to share. "What about the clash?" Artie suggests. "Uh the police?" Blaine chips in, unsure. "REM!" Mike shouts passionately. "Spice girls!" Kurt yells out. "Jonas Brothers!" Rachel and Tina say together. "Ooh ooh ooh! ABBA!" Venus yells out. "No. We can't use any of those bands! The only thing they have in common is that they all broke up, and right now, the new directions need to feel United." Finn says, making his way to the front.
"I like what you're saying Finn." Mr Schue smiles. "It's not just about the music, it's about where it comes from." He tells them. "Who do you think we should use?" Tina asks Finn. "How about this? People think Hall and Oates are famous for their cool puffy hair and that dude's banging 'stache." Finn says. "But also they're awesome for staying together for the long haul." Finn explains. "I think we should give the solo to the new guy, get him prepared for what's in store, Rory I think you'll do a great job." Finn grins at Rory.
"Thanks, Finn, but I don't think I'm ready for that honor just yet." Rory denies the offer, shyly. "Come on! You're totally ready Rory! You'll kill it!" Blaine beams at Rory, trying to lift his confidence. "I think it's a great idea Finn." Blaine gave Finn a thumbs up.

Finn and Santana had organized to play dodgeball. Venus was pumped, she was a god at dodgeball. "Excuse me, I've never heard of this game of dodging balls before." Rory questions, confused. "What's the rules?" He asks. "Don't die." Puck says, passing by him.
When Finn blew the whistle, it was all over. Since Venus took ballet, she had amazing flexibility, dodging balls left and right. Since she played football with Puck and Finn, she had an awesome throw. She and Finn were the only ones left on the New Directions side, Santana on the other. She saw Finn not paying attention, which Santana took advantage of.
Since all of her focus was on Finn, Venus grabbed a ball and hit Santana in the side. "Yes!" Venus says, jumping up and down. She does a little victory dance, proud that she won another game of dodgeball. "Boy, oh boy, that was a cracker!" Rory exclaims, bouncing over to Finn.
The Troubletones laughed at him, and all of them started throwing dodgeballs at Rory, knocking him to the floor. Kurt got there first, crouching down next to Rory, shielding them both with his arms. "STOP IT! STOP IT!" Kurt cries. "For god sakes he's bleeding!" Kurt exclaims, angrily. "Maybe that's how the others around here treat us but we don't do this to each other! We're better than this!"
"God, calm down grandma!" Santana scoffs, rolling her eyes. "This game's over." Kurt declares, leading Rory out to see the nurse.

"I love these costumes." Venus says, running her fingers over her skirt. "Me too." Mike says, wiggling his fake mustache. "You're cute." She tells him, booping him on the nose. "All right! Let's win this!" Finn says, hyping them up.

They were awesome if Venus does say so herself. The Troubletones were next to perform. The Troubletones looked beautiful, all wearing similar black dresses, very different to the New Directions costumes.

They all cheered once they finished, but Santana quickly jumped down from the stage, shoving her face into Finns'. "What did you just say to her?" She yells. "I said I thought you were great!" Finn says, defending himself. "You're lying." Santana insists, overtaken with anger. "No, he literally just said that!" Rachel tells her. "Did you tell her too?" Santana accuses. "Everyone's gonna know now, because of you!" She screams.
"The whole school already knows, and you know what? They don't care!" Finn exclaims, only fueling Santana's anger. "Not just the school, you idiot! Everyone." She yells at him. "What are you talking abou..." Finn was cut off by Santana slapping him across the face.
