"good morning joshua."

"you're checking up on me, huh?"

"mhm."

"oh okay," he smiles, leaning against his car.

"how are you?"

"about as peachy as the sky."

"the sky... is open and nice."

"very peachy."

"what's today?"

"august thirteenth i think, why?"

"thirteen is my lucky number."

"oh. planning on doing something special?"

"i.. yeah."

"oh okay, what's that?"

"m-maybe we could date- or go on a date.. or something?"

"i don't know about dating... yet. a date though. definitely."

"really.. when?"

im excited. ecstatic.

"next week.. maybe?"

"okay."

his face is red. like a maroon color.

"i'll see you then, tyler."

i smile at him.

"goodbye."

i walk across the snow patches. the snow is coming in slowly at a time.

i knock on the trailer door. ashley opens it.

"you didn't have to knock. you literally live here."

"i know."

"why are you so peachy?"

"me and joshua are gonna go on date."

"on the thirteenth huh? lucky number... lucky day."

"sometime next week. i'll ask him more about it closer to mid next week."

"i'm proud of you."

"you really pushed me."

"i did it for your own good, babe. i love you."

"i love you, ashley."

"are you excited?"

"very."

i look at my fingertips, and wonder if the veins inside his are the same as mine. if inside we are the same. and maybe. just maybe.

he doesn't see me as someone much different,

from himself.
