"your 'suit' looks stunning, t."

"thank you. it took me months to find this in good will."

"he waited for you."

"i know. he borrowed a suit. i had to go thrifting for mine."

i stare at my suit in the mirror. careful not to see my face or my brown eyes that i hate so much.

the gray shirt and brown pants look nice. but i bet joshua looks nicer.

ashley smiles at me.

"you're fucking adorable."

"thank you."

"excited?"

"ecstatic."

-

"you look very nice."

joshua stands in front of the passenger door.

"thank you."

he smiles and opens the passenger door.

"thank you," i say and get in the car.

i wait for him to get in the driver's seat.

"where would you like to go.. after the date?"

"dunno," he says and takes a right.

he's wearing a navy blue shirt and his nails are painted black. he keeps glancing at me every thirteen seconds as i stare at him. he smiles and turns the radio up when a singer comes on. he sings along to the lyrics, trying to divert my attention.

he seems to notice that it doesn't work.

that my eyes can't leave him. because i want us to work.

i desperately want it to work.

-

"i hope you enjoy the date, tyler."

"it'll be just us, right?"

"just us."

a/n: guess who doesn't get to know what happens on the date
