Just a dream (Nijimura Shuuzo)

I was thinking about you, thinking about me, thinking about us, what we're gonna be...

"[Name], I have to ask you one question." Nijimura broke the silence going on between you two. Every night you would cry over the phone talking to your boyfriend whom you've been going out for almost two years. And this was the very first time it has happened between you and him, whereas the two of are soon to graduate highschool in about 3 months and now conflicts began to rise up.

"Shuuzo, don't go." you replied,

He didn't say a word. He simply wiped off his tear, not even noticing it was falling from his eyes. "Do you see me in the future?"

You simply closed your eyes as you remember that question, staring at the campus you and Nijimura first met, [The school you went in Highschool]. You sighed. You felt something sunk inside you, you couldn't take it. It hurt you, and you kept thinking that he had no idea how much. In every glimpse of your eye, all you can see are memories of Nijimura with you. And you kept questioning yourself, why does it have to happen?

As of Nijimura, he was doing alright in America. He left Japan without even saying a word, and that was two days right after graduation. He was doing alright but deep inside he even couldn't believe what just happen that day. All of the dreams he had with you all seem to fade away. A lot of people has come into his life and yet none of them could replace you. "You're irreplaceable, [Name]." he whispered as he looked at the photo of you, and right up this day, he still has your school ID. As he was having his moment of silence in his room, someone just knocked on his door, breaking his isolation. "Come in," he replied,

"Shuuzo, your plane ticket for Japan is here." His mum said, as she entered the room,

"Oh, yeah.." Nijimura placed his hand on his nape, and took the plane tickets, "I forgot about that, thanks mum."

"I hope you'll enjoy your vacation back in Japan," his mum said, as he looked over to what Nijimura is doing, she immediately recognised the girl in the photo. "Its been how many years?"

Nijimura slightly smiled, "10 years, mum."

"That long? First love never dies, Shuuzo."

"Mum..."

"I can clearly say that you're still into, [Name]-chan." His mum commented, "I hope you see her." His mum tapped his shoulder and left his room. Nijimura fell into silence again, "10 years, imagine that? 10 years, [Name]." He said, sounding crazy as he talked to your photo.

As you were walking in the cities of Tokyo on the way to your work place, you suddenly bumped onto someone. As you turned to apologise, you immediately recognised who the person is. "I'm so-" the time froze as your eyes met,

"Shuuzo?"

Nijimura couldn't believe his eyes, he saw you again after ten years and the first person he noticed on his first three days back. "[Name]," he said, "How's it going?"

"I-I'm doing alright." You said, "How are you?"

Nijimura cleared his throat, "I'm good as well, can I invite you to have coffee or something?"

"Well, I'll be late for work so I'll pass." You refused,

"Oh, I see." He said in a monotonous tone.

"I'll see you again." You smile and left. But as soon as you turned away, you turned to look back to where Nijimura was heading to, little did you know he also looked back as you continued walking. As you were in the office, your boss held an urgent meeting. "Everyone, today we have a new member in this team," your boss held his hand out to gave the new member the entrance signal and as you looked at the door, it was Nijimura again. "Nijimura Shuuzo, welcome to [Company's name]."

"[Name], you work here?" Nijimura said, "What a coincident."

"Oh, you two know each other? That's great." Your boss said, "Nijimura-kun, meet [Last Name]-chan, my [Position you wished]. Nijimura-kun here is from America and he will be helping us for our next project. It's a big one, and this is exciting." he said full of enthusiasm.

As the days pass by, you found yourself working with Nijimura without experiencing an problems. As you were working on the next project, you decided to have an overtime for just a night. Nijimura was left with you. His desk was in front you, and you just didn't know how to feel. You missed him, your heart pounded faster than it was before. You two were left alone in the office and it was awkwardly silent. "[Name]?" he finally broke the silence.

"Yeah?"

"Coffee break?"

"Sure," you smiled. He led you to the way out of the office and both of you went a café downstairs. As you were in there, you ordered [Coffee, Tea or Milkshake flavour] and he had the same order as yours. "Why'd you order the same thing?" You asked,

Nijimura laughed, "Nothing, I just want to see what it taste like." You just simply rolled your eyes and giggled. As you two were sitting down, facing him, he was staring straight at your eyes. "Sh-Shuuzo, can you just-" you hid your face that turned red as tomato, and took a sip from the cup.

"You have never changed [Name]-chan. You're still the same." He replied. But the moment he said that, flashbacks began to hit him. You didn't want to ask him that kind of question; a question that brings up the past. "[Name], how are you?"

"Really? We were seeing each other everyday-"

"I know but.. i want to know..." Nijimura said, yet his voice went softer, and began whispering, "Do you still see me..."

"... in the future?" You continued, "Are you asking me how I was during that ten years?" He simply nodded, and looked into your eyes, "I do.. but iver the past years you've been gone, you too slowly faded away from that dream. My dream is to be with you, but you chose to let me go."

"I didn't let you go after everything we've been through... [Name], I'm still... in love with you." He stated,

"Kind of want to love you back, kind of want to get a move on from you. I've been busy, just so I can get you out of my mind... but my heart still longs for you. I'm sorry, Shuuzo... what we had before was only just a dream. Maybe, we'll find out own place but not with each other." You briefly explained to him, and as you drank the remaining drink in your cup, you immediately went back to the office. He watched you as you left, his heart broke and regret everything in the past.

What happened in the past could no longer be revived, but we learn from it for us to have a better future. And everything in the past, could also be just a dream and in one case lose everything all at once.

Open my eyes...
It was only just a dream.
