I will love you... (Kagami Taiga)

Kagami-kun, I will love you...

It was summer in Japan and the Seirin Basketball team went to have a camp altogether in Hokkaido. Your relationship with Kagami as best friends evenutally grew deeper, since you've known each other for a long time. You enjoyed the moments that you had everytime you were together. You were aware of what he feels for you, and you were also mutual. He was willing wait for you no matter how long it would take, and you've decided to maintain the friendship you have for each other.

One day after the camp; because Seirin spent almost a week in a summer camp while you had an extended day all by yourself, which was not a good idea. You sensed that something was not right, you felt that Kagami was avoiding you for some reason. "Taiga," you approached him during lunch, "Is there something wrong?" You asked. While eating you sat infront of him just like you always did during camp days.

"Nothing really." He replied, "I just felt a little uncomfortable."

"See, there is something wrong." You said. "What is it? I sensed there is because we're best friends."

You always reminded him how you were best friends, how your thinking was almost alike and linked. It was not really obvious to other that the two of you were best friends. Many times, he denied you as his closest friend but deep inside you know that you are his friend, and the girl he loves.

"You're worried about me, are you?" You asked. You couldn't help it. Kagami just looked at you straight into the eye. His eyes were speaking directly to you.

"I am," he replied. Then continued eating, " I wish I could have stayed with you on your extended day." You replied to him with a smile, "I'll be fine." You said, "I promise I'll come home safely."

You came with them as were dropped off in the airport. Kagami left his jersey with you, "Take care of yourself, okay?" He said as you were in the car and he was outside, he held your head close to yours.

"I will Taiga."

He mouthed 'I love you' as they left, and you smiled.

While you went to your friend's house for you to stay in, you somewhat missed the presence of the Seirin members, but most of all you missed Kagami. You were observing the stars, remembering him each time. "You miss him already?" [Friend's name] asked.

"I do." You said. As you were hugging the stuffed tiger he gave you, that was wearing his jersey. You held this closely to you like a child.

"I'm sure he does too." She said.

"I don't understand why he's so worried."

"You're in love with him, are you?" She asked, randomly changing the subject. "You know you can't love him, right?"

Yes. Unfortunately, you can't love Kagami back. Because for the two of you, you can't love each other just yet. You grew up with strict parents, and of course they wanted you to finish highschool and be successful. They don't want you to fall in love as much as possible, because a few years ago, someone had broke your heart. And your parents just wanted to protect you from any heartaches that would affect your grades. But your parents were aware that you and Kagami were mutual, and they started to be even more strict than usual.

"I can like him, but not love him yet." You defended. "It's really hard. I mean, I'm in love with my best friend, but it seemed that we're forbidden to love each other. We're patient. We're both waiting for that perfect time."

Your friend tapped your shoulder to comfort you, "Don't worry, it'll be all worth it in the end." She said.

The next day...
You received a text message from Kagami.

11:43 AM
Kagami: Good Morning, [Name]. How are you? I just woke up from a long sleep. You'll be home in about 4 hours, I can't wait to see you. Keep safe as always, okay? 

That's very unusual. You thought. You have to admit, you were excited to see his name pop on your lock screen first thing you check your phone. You could sense that something was wrong. 

[Name]: Good morning too, Taiga. I miss you already. Did... anything happen?

Within a few seconds, you received a call from your mum. You picked up, "Hello, mum?"

"[Name], how's Hokkaido?" Your mum asked, 

"It was great, I enjoyed every activity that they held here." You said, "Is there anything wrong?"

There was a sudden moment of silence between you and your mum. "Mum?"

She sighed over the phone, "Did Taiga speak to you?"

"About what?" Your eyes widened, and your heart rate went faster. You were nervous. Did they found out something? Did they misunderstand another information? You started overthinking. Meanwhile, your mum didn't say a word. She just hang up. When you were on your phone, Kagami spammed you with a lot of messages with three minutes. 

Kagami: [Name]...
[Name] please answer. I need to tell you something. 
Did your parents already tell you this? 
[Name] no matter what happen, I will never give you up easily. We'll be together forever. Right?
Best friends forever and for always, right? 
[Name], I love you. I don't know what else could I do if you're not with me. I will never find another you. You're irreplaceable. 

You decided to call him, since you couldn't even settle down. 

"Taiga, what's wrong?" You asked, "Yes, my mum called me five minutes ago, and you too were being paranoid. Tell me, what is going on?" 

"[Name], promise me..." He started, "Promise me, that you'll do the same."

"Sounds bad." you paused, "What is it? Go straight to the point, Taiga!"

"We have to separate." He said, "But I won't let that--"

"I won't let that happen either." You said, and began to burst in tears, "I don't want to, Taiga. I can't."

"I can't too," He said, his voice over the phone began to shake. He stammered a lot. "I love you [Name]. I won't let go." 

"I won't let you go either." 

... until they take my heart away.
