Last dance (Mayuzumi Chihiro)

Your 18th birthday is coming and everyone know what that means, you are having the best party ever. You have listed all your 18 Treasures, 18 Words of wisdom and especially the 18 Roses. Your first rose is obviously your dad, and your last rose is someone special and you immediately thought of Mayuzumi. You were excited and you pictured how the two of you will dance. Before anything else, you decided to give him a call.

"Chihiroooo!" You greet.

"What [Name]?" He replied half heartedly,

"You're so moody, what's up?" You asked, as you were looking down on your list of 18.

"Nothing really," he said, "I was just about to call you as well but, you called me first."

"Is that so?" You said, "Well, I'm turning 18 soon and I know you are aware of that." You said and he hummed in reply, "I was wondering if you could be my last dance, if its okay with you."

The last dance. The most special person to ever be in the list. You and Mayuzumi have been friends for more than a year now, in fact you were best friends. Before you even asked him to be you last dance, you first asked his parents, which they agreed on. And they were happy to know that he will be your last dance. Since your family and his family have been created close ties as well.

"Yeah, sure that's fine." Mayuzumi replied,

"Sweet! Thank you Chihiro!" You said, excitedly writing his full name on the 18th slot, "I guess you're studying for the exams, so I'll let you now."

"Alright, alright. You too," he said, "Hey don't forget to bring notes for [Least Favourite subject], we need that." He smirked.

"Ughhh," you murmured, "Thanks for reminding. I'm working on that notes as well."

"Bye."

You ended the call. You kept the list somewhere safe and moved on studying, since it's exam week. After three hours of studying, you gave yourself a break and went outside to walk your dog. You found yourself suddenly thinking of Mayuzumi and your dance. You were blushing, "Oh stop it." You face palmed and your dog barked at you. You looked at your dog with a heavy sigh and smiled, stroking its fur. After walking the dog, you went inside and ate, and finally deciding to continue to study.

3 weeks after the exams, your family now have to prepare for the biggest party of your life. As you were getting ready, you received a call from Mayuzumi, "Chihiro, what's up?" You asked,

"Question." He said, "Are my parents coming?"

"Of course, they are. Why wouldn't they?" You asked,

"Nothing, it's just that I'm nervous." He said,

"Why are you nervous?"

"You'll see," he replied, from the sound of his voice, almost shaking he tried to remain calm. You can feel he is nervous, "Listen, [Name]..."

There was a sudden pause between the two of you, until you broke the silence. "I'm not liking the sound of this." You said, your voice shrinking. "Tell me, is it good or bad?"

"Don't worry [name], I'm coming." Mayuzumi said, "I'll see you later, and I'm sure that you're the only one standing out from everyone else." He said, ending the call.
"My eyes fixed on you, and I couldn't see anyone else but you." He mumbled.

You looked at your phone, confused, not sure and not knowing what exactly is going on. You tried to forget what just happen and wore a [favourite colour] sparkling gown. As your dad saw you he began to cry, "My baby girl is now a grown up." He commented looking at you.

"Dad, it's not like I'm going to be married." You said, giving him a hug, then your mum. And proceeded to the venue.

As you made the grand entrance, your mum and dad telling you the story of your life as a child to what you've become, your mum singing a special song about you. You saw your friends, and your family friends in the venue except for one family from a special person, Mayuzumi. You were looking for them in the crowd and did not see a silver headed best friend. You began to worry but tried to stay calm and enjoy the party. From a distance, Mibuchi Reo said, "My, my [name]-chan is looking for Chihiro-san." To his fellow teammates whom you have invited.

"And now proceeding to our next set of 18, the roses." The host said.

"Where is he?" You whispered.

"Alright, we're up." Mibuchi said to his other teammates and lined up. In your list, he was 10th. As the host called your 18 roses, and finally reached to Mibuchi, you couldn't help yourself but to ask him.

"Mibuchi-kun."

"Hey [Name]-chan, you look so beautiful." He said,

"Thank you." You replied, and tried to stay positive, "Have you... seen Chihiro?" You were hoping to have a positive reply, but unfortunately, he shook his head. "No, sorry [Name]. I haven't been in touch with him today."

"I see," you said, your eyes softened.

"He is coming. Be positive that he is."

"Sure."

Then the 11th... 12th... and so on, no signs of Mayuzumi. When the 18th dance was about to be announced, "And for the last special one, we have Mayuzumi Chihiro - who is our celebrant's best friend." He did not show up and you were losing hope, you were about to cry. Suddenly, all the lights turned off, and a spot light flashed only just to you. And a slow song called A Thousand Years played in the background. You were looking around, you looked at your parents who is was also confused. And suddenly, the crowd began clapping and giggle, as a slideshow of you played on the projector. You began to be emotional upon seeing your photos at school and when you were a kid, and suddenly a photo of you and Mayuzumi flashed.

All of my doubts, suddenly goes away somehow

"I'm sorry for not turning up early." A familiar voice from behind said, as you turned, the spotlight revelead that one person you were expecting, Mayuzumi. You hugged him tightly and the crowd began to cheer. "I was busy preparing this." He whispered in your ear.

"I thought you wouldn't come," you said, "I was worried."

"I'm here now," he said, giving a red rose. He held your hand and your waist and you began dancing.

One step closer

"Can I do this?" He asked,

"Do what?"

He suddenly kissed your forehead. "Thank you for being my best friend." He said, "I love you, [name]."  You hugged him tightly and felt everything around you went on slow motion and the only person you can see was him.
