Chapter 44

Jasmine's POV

Today's Friday August 10th. I haven't been able to see Johnny sense Tuesday cause Bob hasn't been letting me out of the house. Darry called me today I told me that Johnny was leaving the hospital today. Bob let me leave today. I was almost on the east side of town right now. Am surprised I haven't gotten jumped yet. I made it to the east side of town and I was walking to the Curtis house. I kept walking until I bumped into someone. "Hey watch it!" the person said. "Sorry. I didn't see you there" I said. "Well sorry doesn't cut it" the person said. Great,am dealing with a tough person. I looked at the person and I realized that it was Tim Shepherd. "Oh hey Tim" I said. "Hey Jasmine. I thought you were someone else" said Tim. "I really didn't mean to run into you. I was just in a hurry to get to the Curtis house" I said. "It's fine. I heard Johnny is out of the hospital" said Tim. "How did you know he was in the hospital?" I asked. "Dally told me. He tells me almost everything" said Tim. "Of course he does" I said. I saw someone go behind Tim and put their hands on his shoulders and Tim got scared. Tim shook the person off him the got out his blade and turned around. "Oh it's just you Curly. Don't scare me like that again" Tim said. "Sorry Tim. It's just fun when I sneak up on you like that" said Curly. Tim shook his head then looked at me. "This is my brother,Curly" said Tim. I looked at Curly. "Nice to meet you Curly. Am Jasmine Jewels" I said. "Hi Jas. It's nice to meet you" said Curly. Just then I felt someone lift me by my neck and forced me to look at the person and I realized it was a Soc. I looked at Tim and Curly and they were being held back by other Socs. Tim was trying to get loose but he couldn't. I looked back at the Soc her was gripping onto me. The Soc pulled me close to him. Why is it usually Soc boys you mess with me? I tried to get out of his grip but he tightened up on my neck. "Hey sweetheart. I have a message for your friends. Make sure you tell them. Your little friend Dally made a huge mistake. He loves to put up fights. On September 1st there'll be a rumble. There's a catch to it but it won't be said until the day of the rumble. The greasers better show up to or else" the Soc said. He threw me to the ground. I felt him grab my arm and force me up. "What does this have to do with me?" I asked. "You'll find out girly" the Soc said. "Do you have a name?" I asked. The Soc grinned. "Jack" the Soc said. "Good to know" I said. I punched him in the face then he let me go for a second. He grabbed me again and slapped me two time across the face. He pinned half my face onto the ground. "If I were you I wouldn't mess with me" Jack said. He got off of me then helped me up. "Am hoping you'll do the right thing" said Jack. He kissed my cheek then went into his Mustang. His friends got in then he drove away. "What did he tell you?" Tim asked. I looked at him. "Rumble on September 1st" I said. "Great. Do you know why?" Tim asked. "Cause Dally did something" I said. I ran to the Curtis house. I got there in about five minutes. I saw the whole gang there. They were all looking at me. "Hey Johnny. Nice to see you" I said. "Nice to see you to" said Johnny. "Your feeling okay right?" I asked. "Yeah. Are you okay?" Johnny asked. "What do you mean?" I asked. "Your bleeding" said Johnny. "Oh right. I got jumped. That reminds me. A Soc named Jack said on September 1st there'll be a rumble and there's a catch but you won't find out until the rumble" I said. "Well am sure we'll be ready by then" said Darry. "I sure hope so" I said.

Johnny's POV

I just got out of the hospital today. Am so happy I got out to. I was hoping I'd see Jasmine today. When she got here,she said a Soc told her there was going to be a rumble on September 1st. I wonder what the catch is. That's definitely not what I wanted to hear when I just got back. I don't wanna hear about rumbles. There just more fighting. I only like fighting for self-defense. "Dally,that Soc said you did something. What did you do?" Jasmine asked. Everyone looked at Dally. Dally was staring at Jasmine. I wonder what Dally did.
