“It’s confirmed! The lucky girl is a JMU student!” naalala ko yung mga sinabi ni Ate Abby.

“Hmm, so ngayon naman… is there someone whom he always gives presents to? Regalo or even food?”

Ibinukas niya yung pinto at inilahad ang isang gallon ng ice cream, “Here.”

“Ice cream?!” in an instant napatayo ako sa kinauupuan ko at kinuha yung lalagyan.

How could I forget that? That night when he gave me an ice cream container that has Tilapia inside it as a prank but he went back to give me real ice cream. We ate it together and that was the time when we became ‘officially friends’. Brownies… his birthday surprise for me, all along, I never noticed I was so special.

 

“Pao’s in love when he directly looks at a girl’s eyes then a bright smile will immediately flash unto his lips.”

“Princess,” tawag niya sa akin bago ako bumaba ng sasakyan. Nilingon ko siya at bigla siyang ngumiti sa akin. “Good luck sa exam mo sa Physics, you can do it,” nag gesture pa siya ng thumbs up at mas lumalim iyong ngiti niya.

I always see him smile at me even without a reason. I thought he was just so jolly to do that though I know he was never jolly at all. His smile was one reason why he captured my heart. Little did I know, those smiles are the ones that conveyed everything to me. I was just too numb to know.

 

“He’s also protective- I mean over protective to the girl she loves.”

“Kung sincere siya sayo, hindi ka niya idadaan sa simpleng tawag lang sa telepono, Aya, mag-eeffort siya. Think, Aya. Use your head.”

That was the time na inis na inis ako sa kanya, napaka-pakialamero kasi niyang tao. Alam mo yun, minsan wala na sa lugar. That scenario really pissed me off but later on I realized he was right. I realized he was just protecting me.

“Tigilan mo yang pinsan ko kung ayaw mong samain ka sakin, Garcia.”

“Bakit hindi mo sinabi?” Napatayo si kuya. “ Yun na naman yung kasama mo? Diba sabi ko sabihin mo sa akin kung aalis ka kasama siya?” It was almost a shout. 

Then I realized, nagagalit siya pag si Ian ang kasama ko. I even remember the time when we were at the mall with Ian, Liz and Ella, he was so irritated when he gazed at Ian’s side.

“He’s jealous if he’s not given enough attention of that girl…”

He stayed at the couch on the side of my bed as I talked with Ian. I could see him occasionally gazing at us with disgust. I wanted to laugh on how he looked like but that would make me weird and may cause him to get annoyed even more so I just pretended not to see his expressions as Ian was saying sweet words to me

That was when I was hospitalized few months back then. He was really disgusted Ian saying sweet words to me. Cousins aren’t like that, right? They get jealous for lack of attention but that? I should have thought it wasn’t just like that.

 

“Hmm, what more? He’s in love with a girl when he tells her so…”
