"Mom, can I stay home today? I don't really feel great." Wen says as she walked into the kitchen, in an oversized hoodie and sweatpants that she slept in the day before.

"Wen, I know that's a lie you've been doing this all week. hurry up and get changed before you miss the buss." Her mother stating without glance at the young girl as she finished washing dishes.

After a quick glance at her palms, she turned heading upstairs to get ready. Wishing that she hadn't tried to stay home two days prior for no reason.
A pit in her stomach and a headache mimicking the sound of fireworks continuously exploding within her mind.

In a world of her own Wen moved throughout the day, her headache only increasing with every step, breath and thought. Between ever class earbuds placed in her ears to sound out the pain, replacing it with heavy beats and hard crumbs.

Just as 6th period was being to start, Wen raised her hand asking to go to the bathroom. One look at the girl and the teacher obliged, noticing how pale the usually bright girl looked.

"Take all the time you need, love." She spoke quietly as Wen passed, brushing a hand on her shoulder.

With heavy breaths and shaking hands, Wen turned on the sink as she leaned over it. Ice water falling down the drain drowning out the numbing feeling of her head. Finally feeling a moment of peace, she's startled with the door opening. A tall red head with shoulder length hair and glasses looked at her body draped over the sink before walking into a stall.

Wen watched the girl exsit and begin to wash he hands beside her. Just as she turned the fossit off, a loud bang echoed through Wens head. It was the first one after her moment of peace causing her to stand up straight once more and become alert.

Looking toward to red head, making sure she didn't notice the odd behavior she came eye to eye with her. Blue eyes clouded in confusion and a bit of fear.

"Did you hear that?"

"What?" Wen replied in complete confusion 'did she hear it too?' She thought just as another sounded off.

Realization hit the two girls as Wen realized that it wasn't the pounding of her brain that was making the noise this time, but gun shots coming from the hall way.

The red head gripped Wen's arm dragging her into a stall, blue pools overfilling and falling down her cheeks. Locking the stall door, climbing atop to toilet the girls shuddered and wept as an endless massacre occurs down the hall.

"Do you think they moved to another floor?" the red head whispered, broken by small crys.

"I-I don't know, it's so loud."

The girls hold another for what felt like hours until the notices stopped and the school overcast with an eerie silence. Officers braking in to the restroom caused the girls to scream and panic before realizing it was over.

As they were escorted out, blood and bodies scattered the halls. Officers yelling orders as they're passed off from one unit to another. The girls walked as if they were inside themselves, arms curled in holding them self and each other while their head stayed down trying not to see any more than they already had.

Reaching the front doors was like walking into heaven. The fresh air, bright sun, cool air. Crowds of parents across the street and tents with other traumatized teens huddled in groups divided the front of the school. Some injured, others not but all crying and shaking in panic.

Three weeks later

"Wen love, I decided that you would attend Nevermore academy next year. After what happened i need to know your safe, unfortunately we can't homeschool you and knowing that you'll have to go back eventually..." Her mother starts as she sits beside Wen in her bed. A small light across the room giving them just enough to see another.

"Its okay mom. I get it, but I though that school was only for outcast?"

"That's the other thing I needed to tell you." She says, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "you father was an outcast, though you took after me and didn't get the gene that would give to his abilities."

Shock pooling of the girl as she slowly sat up from her bed. "So, you just were never going to tell me?"

"I know how this sounds, but after you father I just couldn't bring myself to tell you." A tear falling down her mother's face and she stutters. "I'm only sending you there because you're technically a legacy. Your father, he didn't what you to know if you didn't get his ability. He didn't want you to have the burden he did, just wanted you to be 'normal', but if being normal mean that you almost die at school then I'd rather you be far from it."

Wen looked at her mother, mix of emotions flooding her. Not only did she not know about her father, by her mother was hiding it in an attempt to keep her safe.

"I can't say it's okay, but I think I understand. Can you- tell me about dads' ability?"

"You father would get visions of the future, relatively common but powerful ability. Its why he worked with the police, easier to stop a crime if you know what happens." She continued on, diving deeper into their history for hours. Retracing first dates, cases, family relations until the young girl was asleep.

It was the first time she slept more then an hour since school.
