"Hello, Wendi, correct?" a bubbly women spoke across from Wen. Blonde hair neatly styled and dressed professionally. "As you know, I'm Dr. Kinbott But you can call me Valerie if its more comfortable.""Yes hi, please call me Wen." She replied with a small smile.
"Alright! So, tell me a little about your adjustment to Nevermore. How has your first week been so far?"
"I'm fine." Wendi says, her posture becoming straighter as she stops slouching.
"Wendi, this won't work if you're not willing to open up to me."
"But I actually feel fine." She says before mumbling, "Didn't think you could get used to going crazy but here we are." While looking down.
"I understand you may be hesitant to talk about your past. So, let's start with your adjustment to Nevermore then." Dr. Kinbott says almost pleading.
"It's alright. The classes are interesting."
"Do you have any favorites thus far?"
"Um, probably Botonny or fencing? I never got to take anything like them before."
"Yes, those tend to be some favorites. Or so I've heard." Dr. Kinbott smiles happy to have started a conversation. "Any friends?"
"Not really?" Wen replies looking down at her hands. "I kind of freaked out on the first day and people have been kinda avoiding me since."
"I'm sorry to hear that, but they'll start coming around. It's only been a few days so there's still time. You said, not really does that mean a kinda friend was made?"
"Yeah, I mean not really. I wouldn't say they're a friend but she kinda talks to me." Wen explains leaving out the accusation the siren made a few days prior. Ever since the two haven't really talked but Wendi feels the girl's presence following her whenever they have a class or end up in the same space.
"That's good! I'm sure you'll be friends in no time. Was it just the one girl?"
"Yeah, pretty much. A boy asked me if I was okay after my freak out which was oddly refreshing. But that pretty much concludes my interactions with students."
"This boy, was it in the moment or after you were calm again. I only ask because he stood out enough to remember him."
"After, We had study hall together and he sat with me for a bit and we talked." Wen said as she thought about the boy.
'Kind of hard to forget someone like him regardless the situation though.' She thought.
"Well, it sounds like he might want to be a friend."
"No, I don't think so. He hasn't tried to talk since that one time."
"Maybe he's waiting for you?"
"Maybe..."
After talking a bit more, the session was over. Although Wendi never said anything deep if was nice to just talk for a while to get comfortable. Existing the building, Wen found Principal Weems blue car sitting out front. As she peered in the window, she saw that women touching up her makeup. She lightly tapped the window to gain her attention before being let into the vehicle.
"How was your first visit?" Weems asked after sitting in silence for a bit.
A smile spread from the adult to the girls reply, "Good, I had a lot of fun."
After some more silence Wendi spoke up, "I was wondering... Weems did you know my dad by any chance?"
"I did actually, well I knew of him. He was a year older and often kept to himself."
