"I'll take you two back after your statement." Sheriff Galpin stated as he looked onto the two girls that witnessed the mayor's death. One of which who was caught exiting out of his trunk."I already gave it to your deputy. Blue Cadillac with no license plate."
"Yeah, I know." He replies.
"That was the car? I just knew it was blue." Wen stated beside the two earning a disappointed look from the mayor as he realized the girl wouldn't be any more help in the situation.
"Why were you here, I swear every time there's a dead body. Somehow you are right there with it." The sheriff asks causing Wednesday to look at her with interest.
"I really don't have an answer for you this time..." Wendi said looking down awkwardly, "I was only here to return a top I got the other day. I guess I'm really that unlucky."
"Okay, what about you..." He began turning to Wednesday catching her attention, "What were you doing in the mayor's SUV?"
"I saw him coming out the Gates mansion." Wednesday answered.
The gates mansion?" Wen asked recognizing the name from when her and Xavier were researching the death of Garret.
"What the hell were you doing there?" The sheriff asked sounding slightly annoyed.
"House hunting." The girl replied sarcastically, "I overheard the voicemail he left you. I was intrigued."
"Back when the mayor was sheriff, he used to have a lot of wild theories on cases that he couldn't solve." Sheriff Galpin began to explain, "So... we'd dissect them over pie, sitting right back there in that booth. Most of the time they went nowhere. Call me old-fashioned, but when someone is run over on their way to give the police key information, it usually means they were onto something."
"And all signs point to the Gates family and that house." Wen spoke up noticing a common occurance.
"The Gates family. How? They're all dead. Every last one of them. And I don't believe in ghosts." Galpin stated.
"Maybe you should." Wednesday replied.
Principle Weems was upset, no furious. She was tired of the trouble, the late night calls on how a student found a body. Every turn one of the girls causethe her and Nevermore to get roped into the horrible crimes.
"How do you end up at the center of every terrible thing that happens here?"
"Incredible luck." Wednesday replied beside Wendi.
"As of now, the school is on full lockdown, and both of your off-campus privileges are revoked until further notice.
"What! I wasn't even a part of it this time." Wen cried out.
Without a budge from Weems, Wen left to her room. Lying on her bed she looked out her window. She looked the school but at times she truly hated being there.
Knocking Wendi out of her thoughts, she heard a soft thud on her door. Getting up to answer she was met with Ms. Thornhill.
"I just heard what happened to Mayor Walker. Are you alright?" Ms. Thornhill began to spill with worry as she entered the dorm room, "I... I can't imagine witnessing something like that."
"I'm okay, thankfully I didn't see it happen." Wendi said looking to the older woman.
"You poor thing, constantly being roped into these horrible things. You should've never come here." She stated while pulling her into a hug.
