The morning of the Poe Cup Enid Was excited and curious what Wednesday spent all night preparing for. As Wen and her arrived in the backyard of the school they spotted Wednesday."Wanna tell me what you two were up to?" Enid said while she smooched herself close to the girl.
"And ruin the surprise?" Wednesday replied before looking to Wendi, "Take this. Head out to the lookout dock half way across the lake and press it if you see anything suspicious headed our way." She finishes while handing a small remote like button to the girl.
"Leave it to me!" Wen said happy to be able to assist.
After Enid and Wednesday were dressed in their costumes, the two set out to prepare their boat. Meanwhile Wen headed to grab a snack to take with her to her watching spot. Once obtained Wen began to wheeze around the students gathering for the race, ultimately bumping into a boy with a colorful costume and face paint on.
"Oh god, sorry." Wendi said before looking up and becoming shocked by the face paint. "Oh wow."
"It's okay" The boy said with a laugh. "I'm surprised your not competing being close to Enid and all." He spoke.
"Yeah, I'm not really one for competition. She did try though." Wendi said with a laugh.
"Well, I hope your rooting for us then." He said making the already painted smile become warped from a smirk.
"Yeah, I don't think I can go against home. But if they get out, which they won't, then maybe."
"Guess I'll be rooting for maybe." He said with a laugh before walking off.
Just in time, Wendi reached her perch as the Gun shot went off.
The sharp ringing triggered another lapse of PTSD for the girl causing her to collapse for a moment missing the siren jumping into the water. After running though a mantua Dr. Kinbott gave her if needed she found herself re-grounding.
Luckily, after pulling herself together she spots the siren after one of the boats got destroyed. Wen pressed the button quickly to alert them something was headed their way.
Wednesday feeling a buzz, pulls out a microscope spotting the sirens tail headed their way in the water. Quickly reaching in the boat, she pulls a lever implementing her net trap that quickly stopped the siren boy from doing any harm.
Moments later, wen watched the boats begin heading back across the lake. Jokers in first, with the sirens and black cats following close behind. Suddenly, the joker teams boat began sinking resulting in the other teams passing them quickly.
As Wendi watched, she shouted for the boys to swim toward her as she had towels incase the girls dropped. When one noticed, they all began to head toward her. Although Wendi became distracted in the last half, the girls didn't need her help as they ended up having it covered.
Once they boys got closer, Wendi began to ask if any of them got hurt.
"No, All good" one yelled in response.
"Only my confidence." Another shouted before a third butted in.
"I think you mean pride."
Wendi was left laughing while they pulled themselves onto the dock. The four boys resting on their stomachs and backs to rest a bit. Wendi handed out towels to them, still laughing a bit.
When handing it to the last boy, she noticed the makeup that was now smudged and mostly washed away showed Xavier's face under. "Xavier?" She asked.
"Yeah?" He responded squinting up at her with a hand moving over his eyes in attempt to see a bit more clearly.
