Chapter Thirty Seven
Radu couldn't believe what he had heard; several days had passed since he was finally able to leave his bed, with the acceptation of Gottfried's persistent asking in staying with Radu's side. He winced when he put on a shirt, the injuries to his body was still in the process of healing even with the healers helping it didn't do much.
"It's astounding that you're able to move around by now." Hemlock, an elderly man with a long greying white beard as the hair on the top of his head showed signs of vanishing, he was one of the masters that had tended to Radu when he returned in his injured state, the tone in his voice held a note of shock and even a tiny amount of respect, something of which Radu ignored. "I thought for sure you wouldn't be able to leave your bed for at least thirteen more days."
In all honesty so did Radu, though with the fact that he learned that his injuries was laced with healing magic, and not poison, it had shocked him to the core, but it also explained why he was healing faster than an average person.
"Are you implying that the Young Lord shouldn't be out of bed, or are you suggesting some type of bet has been circling around the other masters again?" Gottfried asked with a frown as he placed one hand on the hilt of his sword. The elderly man nearly backed away with the look that the knight gave.
"Leave him be Götz, conflict with him won't solve anything, there are more important matters to attend to now." Radu said before offering a nod of thanks to the old man. "Thank you, Master Hemlock, for what you have done for me while I was healing but I have some business to attend to right now."
Radu didn't wait for the man to answer; he turned and left his chambers with Gottfried not far behind, the man walking a normal pace in comparison to Radu's quick small strides.
"I think you should slow down my Lord," Gottfried said calmly. "I know you want to speak to your father but it would be wise to calm yourself before speaking with him."
"I've been in bed for over fourteen days, within those days my father has not come to speak with me regarding such important matters which I am supposedly involved in yet there hasn't been word." He said without slowing his pace. "What's more I've heard nothing of my sister normally she would come and taunt me but there has been nothing."
Gottfried was oddly quite.
Radu noticed this. "Götz, what happened to my sister, you said she was fine but she was attacked by this robed man correct?"
"I did," he said softly, though he didn't want to go into too much detail about it, fearing it would not only scare the poor boy for life but also blame himself for what had happened to her.
Radu stared at him but continued on. "I'll go see her; though I need to speak with father first stopping what he's planed should take priority." As much as he hated to admit it, even if his sister didn't care for him, he cared for her. But the King came first, he always had and that was something Radu did not like even though he was a Prince. It was something that always bothered him; he understood some of the reasoning behind it but there were times that it felt... unnecessary.
"The letter I wrote, it has been sent yes?"
"A number of days ago my young Lord," Gottfried said.
Radu glanced to him. "Any word of return?"
He shook his head. "No my Lord," he paused and added. "Whom exactly did you write the letter too?"
The boy gave the man a questioning look. "You didn't look at the parchment?"
"It was not my place my Lord, though I did catch the words of lands to the west, is that not where the forest lies near Valdoria?"
