Chapter Twenty One
Celina couldn’t really believe what had just happened. Her brother acting so violently to another person that did not deserve such abuse, she couldn’t figure out why he acted as such and continued to try to think of a reason until she heard soft spoken voices in the halls. Quickly Celina ducked into another room.
The ones who were speaking so softly was Xavier’s head Knights, William, Eric and Ares, all looked like they had stern expressions on their faces that made Celina wonder what the problem might be.
“So it’s true then?” Eric asked.
“As of now its only speculation,” Ares said. “Even though our King told us not to act we should still be vigilant.”
“Yes, but we should still be wary,” William added. “Who knows if they intend to do more before or even after this years’ Fall Hunt.”
Ares nodded. “And followed with the accompaniment of Princess Eleanor, she too could also intend to do something to our Princess, much like Tatiana did when she became Queen.”
“Don’t speak of that Ares!” Eric persisted. “The last thing we need now it to dug up old wounds like that, even the new King has made such a topic blacklisted.”
Celina listened in only to have hands suddenly come out from the shadows and wrap around her, covering her mouth and pulling her in deeper. As the men kept on walking, unaware of the Princess’s hiding place, Celina let out a muffled shout in protest only to stop when she recognized the voice of the person who grabbed her.
“Princess, please relax, you know I mean no harm.”
She turned to look up and see the King of the Forest looking down at her. “Tharen, you scared me!”
“I apologize for scaring you Princess, but you see if I tried to speak to you normally your hiding spot would have been jeopardized. Now then, might I ask you as to why you are in my chambers spying on your brother’s head Knights like a frightened child?”
Glancing around the room she did indeed realize that the room was being occupied by Tharen, and at the moment the Elven man was dressed in light grey silk robes and while not wearing his crown which was resting on a pillow near the bed.
“I wasn’t frightened.” She said to him. “I merely heard voices and thought it would be something bad so I hid.”
He arched a brow. “Why would you think of this?”
Because I overheard a devious plot to possibly have my brother killed by a certain Minister’s hand… And the proof of that was still nowhere to be found, while dealing with her first blood she faked cramping pains to sneak away and search Kayle’s office but found no evidence of it. She would go to her Brother about this but she knew that without evidence there could be no way to linking anything to Kayle.
And she also knew that words could only get so far when dealing with such an important matter. Without proof of what Kayle’s intentions were then it might be lost in the wind before anyone could do anything.
Tharen could see that something was plaguing the Princess’s thoughts but did not ask what it was; instead he merely placed a hand underneath her chin and gently made her look at him. “Celina,” he said her name softly. “If there is something truly bothering you, you can tell me. I promise you won’t get in trouble.”
