A/N: So it's been two years or so since I last posted a chapter on this story, not due to my lack of trying mind you but because of events that killed my creativity when trying to work on it, which for lack of a better word really pissed me off since I was so close to nearing the end of this story. Yup it's getting close to the end, at least for this book, since when I finish this I will be working on the continuation. Though I do find it kind of ironic, with it being so long since the last update and there being a time skip, kind of figures that's when that indecent happened.

But hey it's back, it's continuing and oh is it going to get darker.

Anyway though I am so sorry it took so long to get this up and I hope you guys enjoy the long awaited chapter of this story!

Three years later...

It had been so long since William was home.

Far too long...

For over three years the war went on, three years of a hundred year war, and he and his men were showing signs of fatigue. However, even though it had been so long, there constant efforts were finally baring fruit.

The forces of Labadire were weakening, though for some reason or another no one was sure as to why. But for some reason for it Xavier did not care, all the King wished was for this war to end, and end soon. As of now however it was night fall, the men were resting in their own tents or trying to regain some normality again after the fighting.

There would be many bouts of this that William had seen these past three years, but even now in the coming winter, where the air felt frigid to the touch of bare skin as many of them men tried to bundle their faces from the on slot of cold wind if it were to blow through. As of now though the wind was still, the enemy was silent and the night seemed everlasting as snow drifted softly to the ground.

William stared up to the dark cloudy sky as he watched the snow fall overhead. For so long he hadn't seen his wife or son and daughter in-law, he had hoped that things were faring well for them and even that of the Princess. He had heard word from the Princess through the King, and whenever he were to receive a letter from Celina it ever so slightly put him at peace, but now with being away for so long the King of Valdoria looked about ready to rip someone's head off, in fact in the battle, he had, several times. this was a side to the King William never thought to ever see, Xavier seemed to almost take joy in killing those who were in his way, and despise those who thought the war was pointless endeavour and to just send the Princess to Labadire as a peace offering.

However those who seemed to say such a thing would shortly die on the battlefield a few days after. Loss of life in war was common but something about it felt strange to him. What's more the Paige that was sent to give Xavier wine in the evening was showing signs of slight paranoia when it came to the King. But Xavier would just push forward in trying to get everything within a time frame.

"This year will be the last that any of us will have to fight." the King said. "Once and for all we will no longer have to remain on such a battel field. Soon, all of us will be able to return home."

Though many had stated that as the King he could return home at any time, but he had wished to see this end, but William knew another reason. Xavier had no intention of returning home until the tower was in his grasp.

Even with so much time having gone by Xavier would be relentless in battle. Some knights almost feared him for the skill he seemed to poses.

Not that William could blame any of them; Xavier always seemed to be holding back in the way of his own personal strength. Whenever they were to spar Xavier would act almost aloof, or enjoy it as if it were some pleasant exercise then a duel with blades, even when young Xavier held talent in the ways of the sword.
