Chapter Fifteen

The castle’s church was on castle grounds, it was both large and very old with statues of angels lined the columns, stained glass windows depicting the former Kings, Queens and knights who were honored with the highest prestige or had fallen in great battle. The sun shined through the multicolored glass making the whole glitter with a rainbow of colors, at the altar of the church was the Goddess Kairos, with beautiful features and long flowing hair and gown, he beauty could outmatch that of the beings of the forest. In their legends, at least in Valdoria’s lands; Kairos created life and through loneliness birthed the first human civilization. And has been depicted as a goddess who had no god as a husband, but a human man, a farmer no less, who witnessed Kairos bathing in stream, but unlike most men which tried to force her to make her theirs he simply covered her with a cloth so as to not be exposed to other men. She had chosen him above all else to bless him with children which would rule over Valdoria.

That man’s name was Hubris, and the first King to unite the lands and it’s peoples so that they would all live in harmony, however Hubris was struck down by his older brother Aria, who desired the thrown and his Goddess wife Kairos. In a rage over the death of her husband Kairos cursed Aria to go blind from his greed which ultimately killed the man by that of falling off a cliff to his demise since he could no longer see.

Struck over the loss of her beloved mortal husband she took his body and soul and fled the land of mortal and creature’s alike back to the realm of the gods. But some had said that she still lives among the people pf Valdoira, watching in silence at the Kings and Queens that have both come and gone throughout the many years.

Everyone knew the legend of this story, Celina had listened to her father tell her the tale again and again up until the day of his demise. She always recalled the story whenever she came into the church, last time she entered this holy ground was when she was only nine years old, when they held the funeral for her father and step-mother.

But now there were no tears, Celina simply smiled with joy as she listened to the Monarch speaking the oath of the King.

However her good feeling did not last for Celina felt a sudden sharp pain in her abdomen while Xavier’s coronation began, as the monarch of the church was reciting the vows for Xavier as he knelt in front of the man with his head low. The pain was minimal but it made her feel uneasy.

Ignore the pain; she thought as her clenched her hands together while watching her brother. You must not show weakness during such a crucial time, wait until the ceremony is over, you can last that long Celina, you know you can. Just breathe.

As the monarch of the church continued speaking Maria noticed Celina’s expression, how her face looked strained but forcing the muscles to relax and hide whatever was wrong. “Ann, I think something is wrong with the Princess.”

Ann glanced at Maria before looking to Celina with a slight frown, without saying anything she knew something was wrong, the Princess’s skin looked a little too pale, yet Celina was pretending that it was nothing and Ann knew why.

“Do you think we should do something?”

“We can’t,” Ann said softly. “We must wait until the ceremony is over, if do anything before then it could be considered not only rude but disrespectful as well, it could even tarnish both the Prince, I mean King, and the Princess. And considering who is here it would not be the wisest course of action.”
