Chapter Nineteen

Xavier was now feeling somewhat better after that little assurance with that damned woman Eleanor. Those memories of his always had the tendency to come back at ether in his sleep or whenever some woman tried to seduce him, but usually he would ignore their ruse and say that he has no interest, normally it worked.

But when it didn’t then he had other means of dealing with it.

Xavier had then told the servants to gather what it was they wanted to give them, which surprised both of them as what the Sultan of Sader gave and what Tharen gave them as well.

Samar was the first as he handed a gold ring with a deep red stone in the shape of a scarab, and a dagger of gold and jewels.

“This dagger and ring will bring the barer good fortune while they rule, I know this for I gave your father the same, but they were returned when he died.” his smile became sad. “I can only assume that it was one of the ministers who returned it.”

“I cannot really remember much of that time,” Xavier said. “It’s all a blur, but if any the case I will accept this, from a good friend of my Father’s, and I hope an alley of mine one day.”

Samar smiled. “I am truly honored that you said that Sire.”

“And I even more that you are here Samar,” Xavier said as he put down the sheathed golden dagger as he placed the ring on his middle right finger, once he had he went over and embraced the Sultan in a hug as the man laughed and returned it.

“You will make a fine King my boy.” Samar said as he let go then turned to look at Celina, who curtsied to him almost in a shy manor.

But before Celina had the chance to greet the Sultan the man closed the distance between them, lifted her up into the air and hugged her while laughing.

“I know I said this before to you Princess, but no matter how many times I look at you I always see your beautiful mother within you.” he placed her down and cupped her face. “But one day you will be even more beautiful than she was, I know it.”

“Thank you Lord Samar.” She said in a gasped voice as he moved away from her. “I am honored by your words.”

“Call me Samar dear girl,” he said with a smile as he moved away to give her his gift. Which was a key, Celina merely frowned as he handed it to her. “Do you know what this is?”

“A key.”

“Yes, but do you know what this key is for?” when Celina shook her head Samar’s smile grew a bit. “This key my dear is to something that we, I and my men placed in your chambers while you were away. With your brother’s approval of course, it is to some clothes from my lands and a few other items. My daughter can show you later if you like. And also…” he turned back to the chest where he had taken the ring and dagger for Xavier’s gifts and pulled something else out before handing it to her.

It was another ring but this one looked a bit different to the one her brother had received and a smaller dagger as well. “Now, under normal circumstances I would be giving this to Xavier’s wife to be, but since he has none, and from what I have seen has no interest in marriage at the moment then I will give this to you. The ring is the sister of the one that I gave your brother; they were made by the same ore and stone, it may not seem like much but it means that you both are connected, more than blood.”
