William
When my name came out of her mouth, it was like my soul shattered into fragments. Heloyse knew how to break my stone heart.
I had her in my arms. I kissed every curve of her body, my hands tracing every contour as if they wanted to etch them into my skin. I ran my fingers over her delicate face, and I knew I would never forget the lines that shaped it. She was mine, in that very moment. Even if tomorrow didn't exist, she was mine.
How I wanted to warm her, even though I was such a cold man. But she was the one who warmed me. She broke through all the barriers I had spent my whole life building, dismantling each one with her mere existence.
I wouldn't let her close her eyes. I needed to see every expression when I moved inside her.
Damn it...! It was the most beautiful face I had ever seen. They were the sweetest lips I had ever kissed.
I wanted to protect her from myself. And at the same time, I wanted to have her closer. I was too selfish to think about staying away.
"Will..."
The way my name trembled on her lips filled my chest with pride. I was doing this to her. I was taking her body to its limit.
And then, I said her name. I had never said any other woman's name in moments like that, but with Heloyse... I needed to say it. I'd never felt anything like this before. It scared me.
"You scare me, sunshine."
The dawn was short. We had been asleep for only a few minutes when I woke up with her arms around me.
My eyes were still heavy, but I couldn't just close them and ignore it. I needed to look at that face.
Did she have any idea what she was doing to me?
As our bodies touched, I felt my heart race. I wasn't the same anymore.
I pulled her against me and buried my face in her loose hair, inhaling her scent. She sighed softly, and when she whispered my name, a shiver ran through me like a frightened teenager.
I never thought my name was pretty. But when it came from her lips, it sounded different.
I ran my hand to her head, running my fingers through her soft hair.
"Make love to me, Will."
Those were the words she said hours ago, and they were the ones that destroyed me.
"You're so beautiful," I whispered, even though I knew she wouldn't hear me.
But it didn't matter. I wanted to say it.
And that was the last thing I did before surrendering to sleep.
But before the darkness took me completely, I found myself wanting something I had never dared to want:
A lifetime with her.
