|Three weeks later|
It had been raining for hours, and the pounding of water on the garage's roof makes it sound like the roof is about to cave in. The stormy night made the air much cooler than usual.
Midnight is hitting soon, but Yeji has not come back yet. Ryujin had gone to bed an hour ago, her body tucked under the blanket warm and tight. However, Chaeryeong on the other side was sleeping on the sofa, with no blankets whatsoever to keep her warm.
Well, she actually wasn't expecting to sleep yet, not until she sees Yeji home. Perhaps it was too late, and she was tired, hearing the rain made her sleepy, and she fell asleep unintentionally.
It isn't bad that now she had drifted into slumber since when she was still awake, worry only kept growing in her. Although the short-haired girl had told her to not lose sleep because of it, she still couldn't release the bad feeling in her.
Chaeryeong had stayed with them for three weeks since the incident. Ryujin had accepted the fact that Yeji will never complete her mission, and that she herself, will help the oldest no matter what way when she gets into trouble.
Not just that, Yeji and Chaeryeong became closer as time goes by. Though the oldest is still the same emotionless Hwang, her attitude did have some slight changes towards the girl.
Their feelings for each other too had changed.
The two probably had already acknowledged that their feelings are mutual, but being the usual cold person and the other being the shy one, they only decided to turn a blind eye and no one has mentioned anything related to that matter.
There were moments when the oldest tried hard to hold herself back from being too nice to the girl. She doesn't want the girl to get hurt nor she wants to hurt her either. But it's better to keep some distance since they can never be together.
Another hour had passed since Chaeryeong had fallen asleep, and this time, slow, heavy footsteps were heard coming down the stairs and walking to the bedroom.
The sound of water drops dripping down from the soaking wet garments, the low but loud breathing (slow panting) and the heavy steps woke the girl who was sleeping on the sofa. Chaeryeong fluttered her sleepy eyes open and looked around. Yeji wasn't in her sight but she noticed a trail of droplet stains on the floor.
She didn't care much about that, since it was still raining outside, and the stains on the floor are just rainwater.
Chaeryeong stood up and headed to the dining table. She took out the leftover rice in the fridge and warmed it up, knowing the oldest must have not eaten her dinner yet. She then walks back to the sofa but when she walked past Yeji's bedroom, her eyes widened, terrified.
The doorknob was covered in blood.
Her head turned to the side, looking at the trail of water stains on the floor from the stairway to the door front. She knelt down to observe, her index finger swiping on the liquid. As soon as Chaeryeong saw the colour of the liquid, her heart nearly jumped out in shock.
It was light red, a mixture of blood and rainwater.
