< "Okay, Sir. Thanks for the help." >
"Who's on the phone, unnie?" Chaeryeong asked Jisu as she was coming down the stairs. The older ended the call and responded, "Just informing that you've come back to the police officers."
"Oh," Chaeryeong uttered softly.
"Come, eat your breakfast." Jisu pushed the plate of bacon, eggs and sandwiches to her. "You probably didn't eat well for the time being."
The younger flashed a smile to the latter as she took a bite of the bacon. "Thanks unnie, it tasted great."
"So... Chaeryeong-ah?" Jisu called. The younger mumbled, "Hm?" as she was eating.
"Were you kidnapped by someone? Threatened? Are you sure you're not inj-"
"I was being taken care of very well." Chaeryeong cut her off. "Who?"
Then the younger uttered softly, "Yej..." and cleared her throat before mentioning, "Yejun."
"That tall, cold-gazed girl?"
"Yeah." the girl faked a smile which the older felt a bit off about but soon she just shrugged it off like it was nothing. Chaeryeong continued eating, her eyes staring blankly at the dining table and her mind wandering into deep thoughts.
Once again, the younger cleared her throat. "Unnie-ah."
"Yes, Ryeong?"
"Do you... know anything about 8 years ago?"
"You mean the big incident?" Jisu asked, looking at her curiously. "Yeah, that, I guess."
"Ryeong, we aren't allowed to mention about that-"
"Please, unnie. Please tell me if you know something I don't. I need to know."
Jisu sighed, "I only heard some stories about it but I'm not sure which was true. We weren't allowed to say nor question that incident."
Chaeryeong creased her eyebrows, "Why are we not? I lost all my memories from the past after that incident you guys said. I know nothing about it."
"I can't help you with this either... I'm sorry." the older wrapped her hands around the latter's hand. As Jisu was in her thoughts, she gasped all of a sudden like she finally got a clue, "Do you think, perhaps, that incident is related to what's happening right now?"
Chaeryeong stayed silent.
"I should report this to the officer—"
"Jisu unnie." the younger cut her off, and her hand stopped Jisu from using her phone. "Yes?"
"Can we just... let go of everything that had happened?" the girl looked into Jisu's eyes. "Chaeryeong, what are you saying? I need a reason for that."
The atmosphere between them felt uneasy. Chaeryeong didn't know how should she explain her thoughts to the older, and she knew, that telling the truth would not work as she hoped. Jisu on the other hand, shifted her body a bit to sit more comfortably as she was feeling odd about the girl.
It just doesn't make any sense.
Who would willingly give up searching for the murderer of their own parent's death?
"I guess I'm just tired. Of everything. I've been struggling a lot and I think... *breathes deeply* that dangers are adding up to us because we aren't letting go of all the things."
"What thing?"
"Everything. Father's death, the intrusion and... Just everything."
Jisu creased her brows looking at the girl, trying to decipher the latter's meaning. "I don't understand you, Chaeryeong. You're being strange."
Chaeryeong kept silent.
"And I don't think I can agree with your statement, Chaeryeong. Sorry."
"The police officers won't even be helpful, unnie."
Jisu stared at her. She tried to but she still couldn't understand Chaeryeong. "They can protect us—"
"They can't, unnie! Why can't you just try to understand why I'm saying this? That killer could kill all the guards by themselves, why do you still give so much trust to the officers?" The younger responded in frustration as she frowned.
"They will know what to do, Chaeryeong."
"They are no match to that killer. Really." the girl stated and left the table.
Jisu felt in disbelief seeing the latter's attitude. She has never been in this way and it's concerning. Thoughts were going around Jisu's mind and she had something in her head. "Chaeryeong," she called.
"Is Yejun the killer?"
