"They were gripping my arms and I couldn't run away, but you know what I did?" Ryujin said, anticipating Jisu to maybe, reply to her, even if it's just a simple 'Mm' or something.
But the girl was so unbothered, only eating and minding her own business.
"...Um— Well, I lowered my body as I sweep-kick them, and they all fall to the ground. A-Ain't it cool??"
"......"
And Jisu is still acting like she's having dinner alone, enjoying her dessert— a divine, luscious and well-decorated cake. Once she was done with her dish, she took a napkin to wipe off her mouth and took a sip of her glass of red wine before she muttered, "What's taking them so long?"
Seeing this as an opportunity to talk to Jisu, she responded almost immediately, "I don't know, maybe—"
"I'm going to find Chaeryeong."
Of course, the short-haired assassin was cut off mid-sentence.
"Hey, hey, hey, Jisu, wait up—"
"What?" annoyance in her tone was evident.
"They probably need some privacy, you know? Why don't you just sit back and we could probably try to chat or something?"
"About what? Listening to your glorious killing story? It's cool, you think? Honestly, I find it boring." Jisu uttered sternly. "I'm leaving."
Poor Ryujin was left dumbfounded by the harsh statement given by the girl. But as for her tenacious and stubborn personality, she wasn't one to quit right away, even when she just received the biggest rejection in her life.
She probably also thought that it was attractive for her in that annoyed look.
As she turned around to search for Jisu, she noticed the girl was already stepping out of the restaurant. "H-Hey, Jisu, wait up!"
.
.
.
.
.
"Just where could they be?" Jisu asked, starting to worry as she looked around the street, but there wasn't a single person.
She continued to walk ahead, passing an alley to another. The street lamps were lit but not so bright, they couldn't light up the place well enough for people to see the path. "Chaeryeong? You guys alright?"
She continued to walk.
"Hey, pretty..." a slightly deep, male voice appeared. Jisu jolted a little and halted her movements, she gulped. "...It's not me he's calling, right?" she thought.
She attempted to return to the restaurant, but the voice called for her again. "Hey, you. I'm calling you!" Her breathing ragged and she started to panic, she didn't dare to move a single inch. Suddenly, a hand grabbed onto hers and she got dragged into the alley.
"Help—" Jisu tried to shout but her mouth was covered by the man's hand. She struggled to get away from the man but it was no use, the man was too strong for her to push him away. "L-Let go!!"
"Why don't you come to spend some time with me, pretty lady?" the man smirked, his fingers caressing Jisu's cheek.
"We can have some f—"
"Fuck off, asshole!" A hard kick hit the man's stomach and he fell to the ground. Jisu was shocked by Ryujin's sudden appearance and her quick action. "S-Shin Ryujin..."
"Fucking hell..." the man hissed as he stood up, his left hand on his stomach trying to bear the pain that stung. His right hand reached to his back and there he took out a pocket knife from his back pocket. "I'm gonna rip you apart!"
Ryujin smirked confidently, "You can try."
As the man ran towards the short-haired assassin and tried to stab her, Ryujin gripped his right wrist tight, and in just swift seconds, the assassin disarmed the knife on him and gave him a painful punch on the cheeks before another heavy kick to end with. "Argh!—"
The man ran away immediately after that.
Watching as the man escaped, Ryujin glared in the direction and kicked away the pocket knife that was dropped to the ground earlier. She then goes to where Jisu was. "You okay?"
The serious expression on Ryujin's face simply says how much concern she had for the latter and how much she cared.
Not sure if it was the dim street lights and the distance between them or the incident that happened earlier that made the atmosphere tense, but Jisu somehow felt her heart beating unusually fast.
Perhaps it was the amount of red wine she had drank, but she wasn't one to get tipsy or drunk that easily. It was only two, or three glasses. But why does Jisu feel like she's blushing?
"Yeah... *clears her throat* T-Thank you, Ryujin." the shorter girl felt embarrassed and guilty as she thanked the assassin, due to how she treated Ryujin earlier, those harsh statements she gave didn't deserve Ryujin's help.
"No worries," the short-haired girl replied with a smile, "Let's go now, this kind of dark place isn't safe for small and petite girls like you—"
"Yah! What did call me?!"
Unbelievable. Small? Petite? It's true, -though-, but Ryujin shouldn't have said it that way.
"W-Well... I mean— Cute! Yeah, y-you're cute, that's what I meant, uh- Get it?"
The statement made Jisu's heart tingle, her cheeks started to heat up. She chuckled lightly, making Ryujin's heart throbbing, her eyes locked on the latter's smile as she admired.
"I guess, I'm starting to think that you really are, quite cool."
