The weeks following Castiel's departure passed in a daze. With the Ghostpocalypse averted and Chuck gone, there was nothing to distract me from the iron fist squeezing my heart and filling my chest with so much pain that had appeared when we got the news that Maddie and Zep had died with my mom. I had brought in Maddie's Ellie Bear and angel doll as well as Zep's baby blanket to Dean and my bed and had been sleeping with all three, soaking them with my tears while Dean held me in his arms.

Cass had said when he left that Sam, Dean and I had each other, but honestly, it was more like Sam and I had Dean. He was the glue holding us together during those weeks. Between Sam's weird dreams and reaction to killing Rowena and my mourning period, neither of us was running at a hundred percent capacity. There were times that Dean checked out from playing babysitter in favor of getting wasted, but that only happened a handful of times.

Dean did manage to get Sam and I to work a case with him- originally we thought it was a simple werewolf case. However, we ended up having to deal with Lilith. Apparently, Chuck brought her back from the Empty to get the Equalizer. She ended up melting it down right in front of us. So, then we had one less weapon up our sleeves to use.

We did end up figuring out that the dreams Sam was having all had a theme- the three of us fighting and killing each other. It was Chuck's favorite ending, and Sam figured that when he shot Chuck and subsequently got shot himself, it created a link between him and Chuck. Dean was frustrated because we were supposed to be done; it was supposed to be over and we were supposed to be free. Instead, we had Chuck throwing our greatest hits at us.

"How you doin', Ellie?"

I looked up at Sam as he entered the room. Zep's blanket was spread in my lap and I was hugging Maddie's bear and doll.

"I've been better," I whispered, looking back down at the items in my lap. "How's Eileen?"

Eileen had shown up in ghost form to Sam and after a little witchcraft on his part, he managed to return her to her body. I was really happy she was back in Sam's life- the pair were perfect for each other- but I was upset we hadn't found the spell he'd used sooner. If we'd had it, then we could have used it to bring back Maddie, Zep, and my mom.

"She's resting. She's had a very long day," Sam replied.

I just nodded, rubbing my fingers on Ellie Bear's ear.

"Ellie, you should come out and eat something. Dean will be back with dinner soon."

"I think I'll stay in here a little while longer, thanks."

I'd opted for Zep's room today, sitting cross legged on the bed.

"Ellie, we're worried about you. It's not healthy for you to spend as much time as you do in here with those things."

"Have you ever lost a child, Sam?" I snapped, knowing the answer.

"N-no," he mumbled, shifting in his spot.

"Then don't tell me how I'm supposed to grieve over my kids. You guys should just be grateful I'm not elbows deep in shots at a bar or whatever."

Sam swallowed, brown eyes in full puppy dog mode as he stared at me.

"Alright. Well... there's a burger out here for you whenever you're ready," he finally informed me.

"Okay," I nodded.

I went back to messing around with Ellie Bear's ears. The angel doll sat neglected in my lap on top of Zep's blanket. I didn't like the doll as much because it was marginally more painful than the other two items since Sara had made it look like Maddie but with wings. I still liked to have it with me, though, since both the bear and doll were Maddie's favorite two friends.

"I got it!" Dean said excitedly, coming into the map room. "The answer to all our problems, maybe."

Sam, Eileen and I looked at him expectantly as we continued to eat. I had finally decided to leave Zep's room, putting the items back on Dean and my bed while I came out to have dinner. Dean had been in a hurry when he got back with the food, leaving it behind for us while he went to track something down.

"So, we know that Chuck is weak, right? f we're to take our shot, now's the time. But a weak God is still God. So, how the hell are we supposed to take him down? Well, I was doing some thinking. What if the answer is right under our noses?"

Dean set down the item he'd been carrying on the table in front of us.

"The demon tablet?" I asked.

"Boom," Dean grinned, obviously proud of himself.

Eileen and I exchanged a confused look.

"This was dictated by God himself," Sam pointed out. "Instructions on how to seal angels and demons back into Heaven and Hell if- if they ever tried to take over the earth."

"Exactly," Dean nodded. "But if Chuck was so freaking invincible, then why wasn't he able to protect us from the dick demons or the even dickier angels? 'Cause remember, these babies were dictated before he took a powder."

"So, he was worried about humans, if he couldn't protect them?" Eileen asked.

"Yeah," Sam said, catching on to Dean's line of thinking. "Like, if, for some reason, he were out of commission."

"Which is weird, considering that he's supposed to be untouchable, unless he is not untouchable," Dean finished.

"So, he has an Achille's heal," I exhaled sharply.

"Well, I'm saying he has a weak spot."

"Yeah, that's- that's..." Sam trailed off, realizing Dean wouldn't get the reference.

"These hunks of rock, they're- they're like an advanced directive, okay?" Dean pressed on. "In case something happens to Chuck because there is a crack in his invincibility shield."

"So, you guys can read that?" Eileen gestured to the tablet.

"No," Dean shook his head. "But I've got that handled."
