Calling in the Semi-Pro

Spoiler alert: tomorrow came. Eww.

We only have one today to fix the window until the movers get here and inevitably tattletale if we don't.

We can't call the window company to fix it. We don't live in the house and I'll bet that's a requirement.

We can't try to do it ourselves. I can easily picturing us screwing it up beyond belief if we did try.

We are left with but one option:

Jordan Phillips

His dad owns and runs the only window-related company in town and since we can't call them to come and fix it, we'd need him to do it.

I have no doubt he could do it since his dad is like many other movie dads and wants his son to follow in his footsteps. Plus he already has a job there.

I could really benefit from getting a job but that will come when I'm not on the clock to help fix one of Smalls' mistakes. Benny's looking for one too.

Anyway, it's been decided that asking Phillips to do us a solid is that last case scenario but we're not coming up with anything else.

I personally don't think it'd be that hard to convince him since I have a certain effect on him but whatever.

I'm not the only one with that opinion though.

"Benny, what's the problem?" Ham asks. "It doesn't actually mean anything if she tries it!"

He's been trying to convince Benny to let me "seduce" Phillips into helping us but Benny refuses to budge.

Not like I don't get it.

If Benny had to flirt with Evelyn, I'd getting pissy real quick. Wouldn't matter if it was fake or not.

"Fuck that, man!" Benny says. "I don't want to him to think she's actually interested in him. That he actually has a chance! Call me insecure but I wouldn't even consider having them be in the same room alone!"

Good choice of words.

If he had said "let her" I'd might consider this being possessive but as long as it's just a small bit of jealousy we're good. It's honestly kind of attractive but that's a topic for another time.

"Who said they'd be in a room alone?" Ham retorts.

"What?" Benny asks with a suddenly much quieter voice.

"They wouldn't have to be in a room alone. One of us could be there. It won't take her making out with him. Just Lily using her lady powers on him to make him help us. No harm, no foul." Ham explains.

Everyone looks over to Benny, waiting for his response.

I see him clench his hands in fists and jaw.

"Fine." he agrees.

We soon after head out to the store and are currently standing outside. Not so close that anyone inside could recognize our faces though.

"Just stay here." I tell everyone.

"That wasn't the deal." Benny reminds me.

"The front wall is literally made of windows." I point out. "You'll be able to see me just fine."

"Not from here." Benny argues.

I think for a minute before responding.

"Okay. Wait until I have his back towards the door. You can go in then but don't let him recognize you."
