Chapter 3,
Love Is In The Air
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~" I read one of your little romance novels and suddenly I'm into relationships, complete bullshit. "
~ Deb's POV ~
Classes didn't start until next week, which meant that I had the whole week and weekend to renovate my bedroom the way I wanted, and possibly make the dorm more home feeling. I brought the idea up with Ophelia, I asked if she wanted to spend the week making our dorm our new safe haven, to which she agreed.
We were going to order the things that we didn't need so urgently online and then go during the week to buy the things that we needed. During the weekend, we would go to the supermarket and to Walmart to buy snacks, meals, drinks and other essentials. This is me becoming an adult, I was a little nervous but I knew that I could handle.
It was a Tuesday morning, and I was getting dressed since Ophelia and I decided that today would be the first day of redecorating our dorm. Once we got back, we would start ordering everything that we wanted or thought we would need. The first place we would be going to would be Home Depot, we needed a coffee maker, a blender, light bulbs, and other house essentials.
I was wearing bell bottoms and a light blue collared crew neck, with blue and white Nike dunks. My hair was in pigtails with dark blue butterfly clips on the black rubber bands that held the hair together. The dorm was silent which made me think that Ophelia was either still asleep or getting ready, I'm just hoping that it's the second option and not the third.
I grabbed my phone, and wallet before walking out of my dull bedroom, I closed the door and walked down the hall. Ophelia was sitting on the couch, she was already dressed but she had her head down which meant she was either watching something or reading something, both were possibly academic related. I wanted to see what she was doing so I walked behind the small couch and peeked over her shoulder.
"You're reading a romance novel! You believe in love!"
I shrieked after realizing what she was reading, Ophelia jolted up from the couch out of fear with the book flying out of her hand. I looked at her with my hands clasped together, my jaw was scraping the ground at this point.
"No, I don't. I was bored out of my mind waiting for you so I decided to read one, and I mean one book."
Ophelia defended herself calmly, I looked at her and raised my eyebrows.
"Don't bullshit me, you're into relationships."
I was so convinced that she was now in love with love, just like how I am but she only glared at me and shook her head slowly.
" I read one of your little romance novels and suddenly I'm into relationships, complete bullshit. "
Ophelia mumbled, I looked at her and chuckled before picking the book up from the ground and placing them back into a small drawer that held all of my romance novels.
Not going to be that friend that thinks everything a sign but ever since Ophelia and Winslow have gotten into college, their friendship seemed to blossom. It was as if they went from study buddies to friends with benefits, I'm not gonna be the one to tell her I said that. But have you ever had two friends have the best chemistry but they don't see it?
Maybe she wanted to read a romance book to see how you flirt or what love is supposed to look, sound, hear, and feel like. I knew that if I were to ever tell her what ran through my head about her and Winslow, she would most definitely switch dorms and possibly colleges.
"Just saying, if there's a certain someone who is making you feel a type of way, you can always confide in me. No judgement, no pressure."
I knew what it was like to feel pressured to tell your friends or tell your crush that you like them, it never felt good. I didn't want Ophelia to feel this way, even though I'd be over the moon if she were to even tell me she thought about someone in a romantic way.
But college is a place where most people fall in love, or fall out of love, and it seems like love is in the air for Ophelia and I was ready to be her cupid. Even though it's not February, and she's made it pretty damn clear she wanted to focus on her grades, I felt like she had her eye on someone.
