Chapter 5,
What's Your Favorite Color?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~" I just believe that maybe some people are destined to be alone when it comes to their love life, that's why they have best friends. So they're never fully alone. "
~ Deb's POV ~
It had been a long day, Ophelia and I went to the mall, buying multiple things for ourselves, each other and our bedrooms. I had never spent so much money in one day, but that's exactly what this was, day one of redecorating our dorm to our liking, I'm going to need a job if I don't plan on going broke.
After the mall, we drove to the supermarket so that we had some food and some drinks, our fridge was empty and we were not planning on making a hundred trips to different stores or malls to satisfy us. Once we got back to campus, we brought everything that we bought to our dorms and wasted no time in unpacking everything.
"What's your favorite color again?"
I asked Ophelia, I was placing all of the items that needed to be refrigerated into the fridge while she placed everything else in the cabinets.
"It's brown and yellow, brown for calmness and understanding, while yellow is for happiness and supportive."
Ophelia answered as she placed the last bit of items into the cabinets, closing them quietly as she didn't like how loud it sounded when slammed.
I made a mental note of that, I knew almost everything about Ophelia and she knew me like the back of her hand. My reason for knowing all about her is because we had spent so much time with each other that it wasn't hard to learn, her reason is the same as mine but also because she's a psychology major, she had to know everything about me regardless.
I always voiced about how psychology majors scared me, I didn't enjoy the fact that I could breathe a certain way and she was able to tell what the hell I wanted for my twentieth birthday. The jokes I made about her major though, they were always immaculate, and always unique.
"I think that this year is going to be a good one, I mean I have you and that's all I really need."
I grinned, having a best friend is really the best thing you can have, no amount of money in the world would have made me trade mine.
"How come you never give love a chance? Have you had a bad experience that I don't know about?"
I questioned, I promise that this would be the last time I would ever bring up this topic on the same day but I was really curious. Ophelia didn't hate love, but she was never going to be fond of it.
" I just believe that maybe some people are destined to be alone when it comes to their love life, that's why they have best friends. So they're never fully alone. "
Ophelia sighed, I felt as if I had pressed too much on the conversation then what I should have. Even though she didn't speak with a tone or gave me an answer that was like smacking me across the face, her body language changed.
I walked out of the kitchen and walked to my bedroom with my bags from the mall, I was going to settle everything down in a corner, decorating my room would be tomorrow's job and exhaustion. I grabbed some pajamas from the drawers before leaving my room, I was sweating all day and needed to wash off the dirt from my body.
I turned on the shower and made sure the water was at the right temperature before removing my clothes and getting into the tub, I always found showers after a long and/or stressful day so relaxing. Your muscles would be so tense and your mind would wander around for hours but the minute the water touches your body, everything stops and you're able to just calm down.
Once I was done with my shower, i turned the water off and dried myself up before putting my pajamas on. I was ready for bed, I walked out of the bathroom and sluggishly walked to my bedroom, I turned the lights off and slipped under the covers, shutting my eyes as I got ready to fall asleep.
