Chapter 15,
I'd Be Dead Without You
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~" What you need to do is to take some time to yourself, I recommend listening to some music at night and just relax. If you need some music recommendations, I've got a bunch. "
~ Deb's POV ~
After Ophelia told me she liked a girl, she told me her sexuality, she's a lesbian. She was tearing up again over her sexuality, I mean she's the perfect golden girl, and then you look closer, and realize she's lesbian. Once she calmed down, she wanted to tell Winslow and Aurora.
Knowing I was the first person to be informed about her sexuality, I was glad since that meant she trusted me a lot.
"What if they stop being my friend because of my sexuality?"
Ophelia began to question herself, it seemed as if her anxiety was slowly creeping in and she was becoming doubtful. I placed my hand on her shoulder and shook my head.
"Ophie, they're going to understand that you didn't choose your sexuality. It just, happened, sort of, i think, i don't really know the back story.."
I smiled, even if they do stop being her friend, they'd have to stop being mine. I support her and her sexuality, that's what a best friend does. Unfriending someone because you don't ever want to accept them, you're just a horrible person.
"Besides I think everyone should have room for growth, homophobia is pretty overrated at this point. Just, maybe stop pretending that your life is affected over someone's sexuality?"
I joked, but i wasn't all the way joking, I was also serious.
Once we got to the coffee shop, Ophelia and I walked to the small table in the back and sat down. We were both quite nervous to see our friends, we wanted everything to go smoothly but we weren't sure that it would.
I knew that I wouldn't let them bad mouth her, even if we have been friends since highschool. A life long friendship means nothing if you don't accept, and grow from the changes that are sent your way.
The little bell on the coffee shop door rang and we watched as our friends walked into the shop. It was now or never, and I was so sure that Ophelia would have thrown up and ran out of the shop but nope, she stood where she was.
I was nervous for her, I mean, this is a little bit different but it is a big change from before. You never know how people can react, and that's what is so nerve-wracking about all of this.
"Hey guys, you said this was an emergency so we rushed over. Is everything alright?"
Aurora asked as she sat down across from me, Winslow sat down beside her and gave a slight smile to all of us. He doesn't do greets, he's a weird kid.
"Yeah everything's alright, but this is an emergency and I think you two should know."
Ophelia spoke slowly, her voice shook a little and you could see her hands begin to visibly shake. If she was going to throw up, now would be the perfect moment.
The silence between us grew more as we waited for Ophelia to say what was on her chest.
"I'm, I'm a lesbian."
Ophelia spat out, tears began to swell in her eyes and you could just tell she wanted to jump in front of bus. Aurora was confused for a second before the words finally processed through her head, getting up from their chairs, Winslow and Aurora walked over.
The two hugged the sobbing girl comfortingly as they explained they accepted her, I was happy for her.
"I feel like this is a life changing moment and I don't know what I need to do to actually accept myself."
Ophelia wiped away her tears as she looked at each of us.
" What you need to do is to take some time to yourself, I recommend listening to some music at night and just relax. If you need some music recommendations, I've got a bunch. "
I explained as I pulled out my phone and went to my Spotify, I had multiple playlists for every occasion you could ever possibly imagine. There was bound to be a playlist for self care while you accept yourself.
Ophelia smiled and hugged me tightly, although we were all friends with each other, I knew that me and Ophelia were more than just friends. We were like sisters, which means that our bond was stronger than everyone else's.
I also know that I'd be dead without her, she kept me sane when I thought I was going to officially lose it. She knows that she'd be dead without me too.
