"Y/n, leave him in the car. You don't need to bring him with you."

"No way! He is like my child but also my best friend. I'm pretty sure he knows more about me than anybody else." You clutch Buddy in your arms as Tony tries for the hundredth time to get you to leave the AI behind as you sit in the car outside of the compound.

"I thought I was your best friend?" Tony fakes offense.

"Hell no. You're barely in my top 10." You smirk but Tony just pushes his sunglasses back over his eyes in annoyance.

"Whatever, but you don't need to bring him. The compound has FRIDAY installed in every room."

You shake your head and clutch the AI in your hands tighter. "That's not good enough. Buddy is more than just an interface, he is an entire being! You should be able to understand that since you accidentally created not one but TWO living AI's." Tony shudders at the mention of one of his biggest mistakes but quickly shakes the regret of everything that came from Ultron.

"Vision has a full body with hands and everything, your 'Buddy' is just a glorified soccer ball that can fly."

You gasp at his words and fake cover Buddy's ears, well where his ears would be logistically if he had any. "We both know Buddy is way more advanced than your walking toaster! Buddy has sarcasm and can grasp basic human emotion unlike your accidental child. Plus, Buddy utilizes electromagnetic waves in the air along with other forms of energy to not only float, but to move objects. All without hands."

"Blah blah blah. All I heard is that he is annoying and can float. You can survive here without him."

"No way Tony. If I am going to be forced inside a house with a bunch of strangers like I am on a shitty reality tv show, I am at least bringing something that will keep me sane. If he can't come then I am not following through with this."

Tony huffs and shakes his head at you. You watch as he gets out of the car and grabs one of your bags. You decided to pack relatively light, only bringing 2 bags of clothes, some books, your headphones, and a record player. Fury did say you can keep your place so you opted to leave essentially everything else back there, not like you planned on giving up your place anyway. It's already fully paid off and home to your personal lab where you do most of your work. You have a version of Buddy not only guarding the room to your lab but the entire flat itself, giving you peace of mind that it will be safe while you are away for who knows how long.

"At least keep him in your room. I don't need the team freaked out by your nerdiness on day one." With a roll of your eyes you get out of the car and agree. Buddy makes his way into his case and you shove him under your arm as you grab your last two bags.

You follow closely behind Tony as he scans his thumb before entering a code into the door. It slowly opens and he walks in without explaining to you how the hell he got in. As soon as you walk in you notice how massive the inside is. It looks huge from the outside but a person could get lost in here for days if they weren't careful.

Tony drops his keys in the foyer before continuing his descent inside. When you first walk in there isn't much to see, just the entryway and a big open area that leads to an outdoor training area that is visible through the absolutely massive floor to ceiling windows. Tony points to his left indicating that there is a garage through some obscure door but continues walking to his right. He comes upon an elevator and takes you to the second floor which apparently is where most of the bedrooms are.

He shuffles down the quiet hallway and stops at a door about halfway down the hall. "This would be yours. Go ahead." He gestures to the door and you head inside first. The room is fairly sterile looking, lacking any character or fun but it's to be expected since it's an empty room. There is a walk-in closet that you spot straightaway and you go to put all of the bags you were holding in it. Once your hands are empty you walk around slowly taking it all in.
