"Pleeeeeeaaaaaasssssseeeee!"

"No."

"But, come on! Please!"

"Please doesn't just magically get you whatever you want. Especially in this situation, Grey."

"Oh come on, Fury! I think I have proven that I'm not going to bolt and take all of your Avenger secrets with me. I just need to go to my apartment and grab a few things."

"We can have an agent get whatever it is you need so badly."

"No way am I letting a random person into my place. Plus I need to get stuff out of my lab. Nobody has access to get into that besides me. I promise it won't take more than a few hours in total! PLEASE!!!!"

You follow Fury around the room like a child as you plead your case to the unamused man. You've been trying to convince him for the last 15 minutes to let you leave so you can grab a few items from your lab and apartment. Though Tony did a great job on your lab, there are a few items and tools you are hoping to bring back with you (or at least the needed data and code to program his machines to do what you need). Plus, this weekend Tony is throwing a Halloween party and dressing up is required. There are a few items at your apartment that you need for your costume and it's too late to order them (live, love, procrastination).

It's not like you haven't left the compound since getting here. Kate and Yelena have taken you to their favorite diner a few times for burgers and milkshakes, you've done grocery and farmer's market runs with Wanda, and you even went to a museum with Steve. But going out alone is still something you aren't cleared for, which honestly makes no sense at all but it's Fury's orders and apparently nobody can escape those.

"You know the protocol. In order to leave this compound you need someone who is cleared to go with you. I'm not saying you can't leave, but you need to bring an agent with you."

"I don't know if you noticed but everyone is gone! Like literally. I'm not even sure where half of them went or would even be, but they sure as hell aren't here. So unless you want to go with me, I'm going to call a car and just head on out..."

Taking a few slow and dramatic steps backwards, trying to show him you are serious, you head toward the door of the office the two of you currently are in. When you reach the doorframe and he doesn't take the bait, you turn back around to face him and throw your arms up in frustration. "Oh come on! You didn't even spare me a second glance. What if I really did just leave, huh?"

"One, you follow the rules too much to ever disobey an order. Two, I would have an agent on your ass within a minute. You wouldn't even make it past the gates."

You roll your eyes but you know what he said was correct. An agent would definitely get you before you got too far, plus the gate most likely wouldn't even open to begin with. And it's true, breaking rules or going against what others say is not something you are very good at. Growing up you were too busy trying to be perfect and do what adults wanted in a fruitless attempt to find a foster home that would keep you for longer than a few months. Unfortunately, being perfect never earned you what you wanted.

"You can go with Romanoff. She is on the fourth floor in the community room according to her phone tracker."

"I hate that we all have trackers. And no way, I am not going to ask her for a favor. I already used the one favor I get each month a few weeks ago."

Fury lets out a small laugh at your antics. "And what is it that you used your one favor for, this month?"

Giving the man in front of you an awkward half smile as a warning, letting him know what is about to come out of your mouth is ridiculous but it's the truth. "Well you see... I was really curious how Bucky's arm worked on a more mechanical level and I knew he had no idea himself. The guy is secretly super sweet but he is not the sharpest crayon in the box. Anyway, I asked Natasha if she could get him to let me see it... without him attached to it. After a lot of begging, and annoying her, she agreed and within 5 minutes I had Bucky's arm in my lab." You quickly wrap up your story and give him a shrug, trying to play off the fact that Natasha in fact stole Bucky's arm while he was napping, resulting in him spending the next two days giving you hell about it once he found out it was you who ended up with his arm. Luckily, he wasn't actually mad. Mostly because you added a few updates to it for him.
