Thomas scowled at the pizza decor while waiting for Cheryl. He wondered what was taking her so long. He had come to break out Luigi, but then found out that he wasn't in The Oven anymore. And for some reason, Cheryl was now the leader of The Order of the Slice? He was hoping for some answers. The door to the break room Thomas was waiting in opened. Cheryl and some other weirdo entered. But no Luigi.
"Where is he?" Thomas quickly asked. He didn't need to specify. Cheryl already knew who he was talking about.
Cheryl frowned. "We... Don't know."
"What?!" Thomas stood up.
"Relax," Cheryl said casually. "He's probably just, like, exploring or something, right Mushroom?" The other person nodded.
"Exploring."
No. Luigi hated this place as much as Thomas did, maybe more. He could have escaped, or been captured, or both! "I need to go." Cheryl grabbed him right before he ran out the door.
"You're being dramatic." She said. "But, just in case you aren't, Mushroom will send out a search party." Cheryl glanced at Mushroom, who ran out the door.
"That's not good enough," Thomas said. "He could be dead!" Instead of gasping, Cheryl laughed. Thomas's scowl returned. "What's so funny?" He asked impatiently.
"You're so worried, it's adorable."
Thomas fumed. "Of course I'm worried!" He yelled. "You should be worried too!"
"Why? Luigi's a grown man, he can take care of himself."
"But he's been captured before!" He's probably done something selfless and stupid. The memory of the bar flashed in Thomas's mind. Luigi had shoved Thomas out of the way of The Order of the Slice members. Thomas had no idea what had happened to Luigi after that. And now he's gone. Maybe forever.
Cheryl must have noticed the panic on his face, because she immediately patted his shoulder. "Calm down." She said. "Just calm down."
"How?!" Thomas yelled. "How am I supposed to calm down? I've got to find Luigi!"
"How?" Cheryl asked. "We have no idea where he is."
"I do," An Order of the Slice member walked in. "I saw him, outside, he was walking with this big guy, and he looked pretty scared." Thomas's heart sunk. Cheryl didn't even look slightly worried.
"Well," She said. "I guess we have to plan a rescue mission."
