a/n I don't know if "hard self blaming" is a tw but there's a lot in this chapter. we're to the angsty part

ANNE'S POV

Anne can't control that. It happens, she can't stop that. Her hands are hurting so fucking much but more that everything hurts the awareness of being a bomb ready to blow up for every stupid thing.

She runs and runs inside the swamp, she's not even looking where she puts her feet. She feels a strange sensation of déjà vu, all of this already happened. It's the second time she loses her mind and runs away without a better thing to do.

The sun is almost gone behind the far, thick line of the horizon and Anne has no intention to return back. She can't fight the LandCrusher if she can't fight even herself. She feels too dangerous, too alone, too much for everything.

She falls ahead, slipping on a root and hitting her face on the mud. She stays still, breathing fast. Her lungs are hurting, her hands are hurting, now also her hose is hurting. She feels the metallic taste of the blood in her mouth, flowing on her face.

She seats down always moving the slowest she can. She feels about to blow up another time. Between her fingers, a single sparkle was jumping and making her go crazy. She takes a deep breath, lean behind at the trunk of a tree.

She destroyed a house, good to know.

-Great work, Anne.- She murmurs to herself. She destroyed an house just for a sentimental drama. She always thought she was superior to love dramas and problems, but she's not. Even Marcy feels something for her and this makes her happy and sad at the same time. She can't be perfect for everyone.

What if she breaks their heart? She holds back a sob, rubbing her nose with her hands to try to stop the blood. She's a complete mess and she knows. She has to return baclk to the village and yet her feet aren't moving.

She opens her eyes all of sudden because of a noise. Someone's trying to be silent around her but they failed. Anne feels her Power working for her and she rolls on her left, quick. Less than a second before, a net wraps around the tree where she was sitting.

Anne stands up and lightens up all her Power. She feels high, light, her feet quickly run on the mud to reach where the net was threw. She kicks aside, violent, a little newt with a huge riffle in her hands. Anne looks down at her, fainted out after hitting with the head a rock.

Anne turns behind and raises one hand in front of her face, closing her fingers in a fist. She breaks the syring in her hands, feeling the anesthetic flowing on her palm. Another newt curses and jumps outside the bunch where he was hiding. Anne has no intention to let him go and jumps ahead, grabbing his hood and pushing him back.

With the free hand, dirty of anesthetic, she grabs the newt's blowgun. The newt whistles something and tries to kick Anne but the girl doesn't even feel the hits. The blue light shines even higher when she presses the newt against a tree, placing him at her eye-level.

-How did you find me?- Anne says and she's susprised by her own voice: deeper than the usual, scary. The newt moves in her hand, tries to escape. Anne's grab is stronger than any of his tries.

-Answer me.- Anne says again. She can't do anything but trying to scare him. She doesn't want to really hurt that newt.

-Kill me human! I won't talk!- The newt shouts, stubborn. Anne sighs and has an idea, all of sudden. She narrows her eyes and grabs tighter the newt's coat.

-I don't have intention to kill you. My Power makes me stronger than anyone and gives me a lot of abilities, did you know, newt? Your King sent you to try to catch me, fool. I don't need you to talk because I can read your mind.- Anne says, trying be the scariest she can. The newt tries to kick her again, he's nervous.

-That's... that's not true!- He mutters. Anne nods.

-Wanna try my Power, newt? Did you know I can take control of your mind exactly like Andrias does with people?- She adds, remembering what Marcy told her about what happened with Olivia and the other newts.

-What?! That's not true!- The newt says, challenging Anne.

-If you can read mind, why don't you already know why I am here? Huh?- Anne understands that newt is pretty stupid and almost smiles, ruining everything. She holds back the laugh.

-You're here to try to catch me, your friend was supposed to throw me a net and you to hit me with that syringe.- The newt wide opens his eyes.

-You...you can really read minds! Don't hurt me, human! I was just following Andrias' orders! He put a long time ago a tracer on Olivia's wife, Yunnan, and it was easy to come here! Andrias is so close to have the Wit for his dark dreams!- The newt reveals, terrorized. Anne doesn't realise she has opened her hand and the newt falls. Anne looks at her hand without seeing it. Andrias knows where they are.

A sudden thunder almost pushes her to the ground, followed by an explosion of flames and smog. Anne rolls on the mud, hits her back against a trunk. The Wit Power. She stands up, shining of Blue.

-MARCY!!!- She runs behind, jumps roots, avoids bunches. She shouts their name again. The flames quickly start attacking every single trunk, Anne starts coughing for the smog but never stops running.

-MARCY!- She ears another explosion, on her left, she turns immediately.

-Anne...?- Marcy answers, far. Anne runs again, as fast as she can, she hits more and more trees in the hurry to reach them, but she doesn't care. She can't lose them.

-MARCY...!- She screams another time, when she sees them through the wall of smog and fire. Marcy turns their head behind and raises an hand, trying to touch her from far away. Anne notices the darker shadow behind them, black against the red of the fire.

-MARCY WATCH OUT!- Anne is able to scream but all of sudden her vision becomes blurry. Something hits her violently on the head and she slips aside, rolling on the mud. A stone, dirty of Anne's blood, rolls with her stopping close to her nose. Anne looks where Marcy is, fighting against the tears and the smog and the fire to see them.

A robot, the dark figure inside the flames, jumps out of the wood and grabs Marcy and all Anne can do is watching it happening. So close and yet so far. Her head hurts so much and she tries to stand up but the blue light is gone, she's alone.

-Marcy...no...- She whispers, her throat is hurting, before closing her eyes and everything turns black.
