SASHA'S POV
A week passes after they left Wartwood and the caravan of frogs and toads arrives close to Newtopia. They're travelling near the sea. The flying castle is visible in the sky but yet too far. It became visible the day before, even if the clouds can still hide it.
Anne didn't stop looking at it since it appeared. Sasha doesn't bother her, even tho he thinks it's not healthy for Anne. Sasha goes visiting her on the roof of her wagon every few hours, to see if she's ok. She's not, of course, Sasha knows it. Now they're so close to Marcy and Andrias, Sasha can feel the anxiety. She just hopes Marcy's safe.
-You can't die before I've apologized, nerd.- Sasha murmurs, she's standing in front of the map of all Amphibia, inside his wagon. Every day new messengers arrive and tell them there have been more attacks, more cities destroyed. Amphibia is scared because of Andrias and this pisses Sasha off.
She grabs her swords and makes a few lunges in the air, just to have something to do. The tension is killing her.
Grime enters right in that moment and Sasha stops the sword a second before it cuts the toad's head in half. Sasha raises a brow, bothered. He makes a step behind, looking down at the toad with a serious expression, but under her skin it's boiling a volcano of emotions.
-Why didn't you knock? I coul've killed you.- She says as she sheates the sword. Grime smirks ans taps on his only good eye.
-You're getting pretty used to those things, huh?- He comments with a satisfied tone of voice. Sasha nods and holds back a little wave of pride. She's not the best with swords yet but since she got the Strength power she feels more...strong, of course, but not only that. She's faster, almost smarter, and her senses are always lucid. Sasha seats on the table and crosses her arms.
-I was thinking, Grime, and you interrupted me. What's the matter?- She says, aggressive. Grime ignores her rudeness and glances at the map.
-We have to decide how to enter inside the city. The castle is too high in the sky for us and you know. Maybe you and Anne, with your Powers, can arrive on the top. Me and the toads and frogs will attack the city. We're deciding how right now and we need your help, Sasha. You're a commander, now.- Sasha snorts hearing him. He looks like her dad when he talks like that. You've a duty now, you have to be responsible, now... Sasha wants to be responsible only for Anne and Marcy.
She doesn't want to babysit anyone and she feels too much the pressure. She snorts, standing up again, and gives Grime a death stare.
-I'm not moving from here, now. I'm thinking about the castle and our plan. Me and Anne will have to do the most difficult part, so...Sorry, I'm busy.- She ends up shrugging. Grime blinks a few times, looking at her with his only good eyes. He's pretty astonished.
-What...?- He mutters, but soon realises Sasha's not going to change her mind. -Damn child!- He bursts out and exits the car. Sasha chuckles and bends again on the map. Think, blonde head, think, she says to himself.
-All we have to do is fly with our Powers on a castle that's high in the sky, grab Marcy, beat Andrias and go down. Mh...- She thinks out loud. Since they left Wartwood, Sasha and the others communicated and interacted with a lot of spies and messangers from every part of Amphibia. A lot of them told Sasha and Yunan that Andrias has an entire army of mental-controlled newts, frogs and toads.
Andrias forced them to fight for him and even die for him. Nobody knows how, tho, but some rumors say that he has the base of his power in his castle. Maybe all the controlled minds are connected to a hive mind and it's in Andrias' castle.
Sasha sighs, she's thinking to much, her head is almost hurting. The caravan is slowing down, ready to rest for the night. the sun is setting out of the window, Sasha rests for a few seconds her gaze on the sea, lightened by one hundred shades of red and orange.
-We have to go in the castle and improvise...turning off the hive mind.- Sasha murmurs to herself, leaning at the windowsill of her little wagon. She sighs. -Great.- She comments to herself before exiting the wagon.
She already knows where searching for Anne, she goes to her wagon and climbs up. She finds Anne and Sprig sitting close, looking up at the castle. Anne doesn't turn her head behind when she hears Sasha coming.
-Hey, Sash.- She says. Sasha seats at her free side.
-Hey, Anne.- She raises her gaze to the castle.
-Some news?- She asks. Sprig nods.
-Actually, yes. Some robots flew out of the castle this morning but didn't come here. They disappeared with a green light.- He says. Sasha flinches.
-Wait...maybe Andrias is trying to send robots in other worlds!- She says, worried. Anne nods.
-I'm pretty sure he's trying. We have to stop him, now!- She says and looks almost mad. Sasha wraps her shoulders with an arm, pushing her closer to him.
-Annie, we're almost there. Don't worry, ok? All we have to do is go there, free Marcy, stop Andrias and return back.- Anne sighs.
-That's a lot of things to do.- She murmurs, hugging her own knees. Sasha nods and leans her head over Anne's. Her curly, fluffy hair are like a pillow for Sasha.
-We're strong, Anne, don't worry. You are strong.- Sasha murmurs, sleepy. She'd like to sleep alone with Anne, on the top of that wagon, forever. Just them two, chilling and staying together. She knows she can't. She opens again her eyes and realises Sprig is going down the wagon. The little frog turns when he feels Sasha's gaze on him. He raises a thumb, smiling to Sasha.
-You got this!- He murmurs before jumping down the car. Sasha swallows and huges tighter Anne.
-Anne...I...do you remember the little talk we had in the swamp...? About you and Marcy...?- He says, clumsy. Anne smiles sadly and looks at her.
-Yeah, I do. Sasha, I don't think I'm ready to give you an answer. I love Marcy, and you know that. But I also love you.- Sasha blushes immediately, loses her ability to speech. Anne leans her head over Sasha's shoulders and closes her eyes.
-Promise you won't die.- Anne murmurs, afraid of her own words. Sasha hugs Anne's back and nods.
-Promise. Now do the same, Anne. promise me you won't try to do the hero. Promise me we'll live happily. Promise.- Sasha says, serious. Anne doesn't answer.
-Anne...?- Sasha feels a strong choke blocking her breath, her throat is closed from the anxiety. She can't lose her. Anne stays silent for another few seconds.
-I promise.- She murmurs in the end. Sasha feels the strong pressure leaving her body, she feels light. They stay wrapped together, hugging, they don't even realise they've fallen asleep.
...
ANNE'S POV
Anne wakes up a few hours later. Above her head there's the sky, huge, dark blue. The stars shine brighter than ever, creating constellations that the curly haired girl doesn't know. She lows her back on the caravan. Joe Sparrow is sleeping on the roof of the wagon behind Anne's. Everything seems peaceful.
Anne closes her hands in fists and holds back the tears.
-I'm going to save you Marbles. Just wait for me.- She murmurs. The rage crosses her like an electric shock and the Blue Light shines behind her eyes.
