Chapter 1

Sarah's P.O.V.
Sodapop and I have been together since we were 18, now we are 25, and every day we fall deeper and deeper in love with each other. We have always been there for each other and shared an uncountable number of laughs, needless to say, we're inseparable. He has two brothers; Ponyboy who is 23 and in college and Darrel who is 29 and works as a roofer. Darrel has grown to be well respected by everyone and with good reason, he took care of his two younger brothers when his parents were killed in a car wreck even throwing away his shot at a college scholarship. Ponyboy earned a full scholarship and has everyone's support, his brothers are beyond proud. Ponyboy, Darry, and I have grown a trusting friendship; at times they refer to me as " future sister-in-law" gotta say I'm a fan of the nickname. It wasn't always like that though, Soda's ex, Sandy, left him heartbroken, the whole gang was a little suspicious of me at first cuz they thought I was just another heartbreaking girl but after a few weeks, they warmed up to me and they know I would never do anything to hurt them or Sodapop.

Their gang is also really nice; well, Steve is my boyfriend's best friend so he's always either trying to annoy me or looking out for me ( like a big brother) , Keith goes by Two-Bit and he can't help but crack a joke every five minutes, Johnny is so gentle and afraid of everything because of his abusive parents back home, and Dally is the delinquent of the group.

Me and my best friend, Stephanie, who is Steve's girlfriend, work at a law firm as lawyers. Sodapop and Steve work at the DX and yes they get hit on by tons of girls, I mean they are the hottest guys in existence, but they are so loyal to us. They either direct the girls' attention to their coworkers or if they don't stop they charge them extra.. Yeah, We got lucky <3.

" Hey, Sarah!" Soda exclaimed as he rushed over to hug me as soon as I stepped inside the DX after work, " Hey Soda!" I greeted.
" I was wondering if my loving girlfriend would care to join me on a date, a drive around town, and maybe stopping at Dairy Queen?"
" Sure! I'd love to!"
" Great!"
Our lips met in a kiss,
" Soda! Get back to work !" Steve scolded
" Hold on Steve! Gimme a second, Im hugging my girl"
I giggled and blushed, he noticed and kissed my cheek. He invited me to sit at the counter as he stocked the shelves. We lost track of time and his shift was over before we knew it, we waved goodbye to Steve and headed to our drive around town. Soda stepped on the gas barely staying under the speed limit. The wind whipped against our ears, the speed made us feel so free and it was like the whole world disappeared. " I have never felt so free!" I sighed, " We are in the land of the free, my love" he responded. I glanced back at him and saw a smile on his face and some strands of his greased hair being moved by the wind, his attitude so " laissez-faire" and free reign.

After an hour or so of driving around, singing to the songs, laughing, socs insulting us, and us insulting them back, we arrived at Dairy Queen's. We passed through the drive-thru and got our meals and started talking, " I'm serious babe, I made green pancakes!" He laughed, I laughed too and smiled at seeing his genuine smile. That's the thing about Soda, he feels as if he needs to be perfect 24/7 and he isn't good enough and he never will be, I would be lying if I said I don't feel the same about myself at times but we're both working on it. Our favorite song came on so we got out of the car and slow-danced to the song that could be heard from outside as the windows were down. In the middle of our dance, I whispered " I love you" "I love you too" he replied, " but I don't want to be your boyfriend anymore ". He let go of me, I felt tears starting to swell in my eyes but he added " I want to be your husband instead" and got down on one knee, taking out a diamond ring from his pocket. I gasped and covered my mouth with my hands as the tears in my eyes transformed to those of happiness, cliche, I know, but when the love of your life is down on one knee asking you to marry him what else are you gonna do?

"Sarah Jones, I have been deeply in love with you for the past seven years of my life. I love you more than anything on this earth and would do anything for you, I love even the simplest moments we share together, I want you to be my Mrs. Curtis. Will you do me the great honor of becoming my wife, please?"

Tears of joy streamed down my face as my heart melted, " Yes! Yes! Yes! A million times yes! Of course, I'll marry you!" I whispered, my voice growing stronger and filled with tears with each uttering. He smiled wider than I've ever seen him as he got back on his feet and slipped the ring onto my right ring finger and we kissed.

" Hey guys, we're back!" Soda announced as we entered Darry's home, their parent's house, " Hey" they responded. " We have news," I said, everyone, turned to look at us with wide eyes anxiously awaiting the announcement, " Soda and I are engaged!" I squealed, showing them my right hand displaying the ring. A chorus of " Aw"'s and "Yes!" Filled the room, Steve turned to two-bit " pay up!" He exclaimed two handed him a 10-dollar bill. I could clearly tell they had placed a bet on how soon their friend was going to propose. Ponyboy was the first to come up to us and hug us, " I knew you were going to be our sister-in-law!" He exclaimed, tightly hugging me. Next was Darry, followed by steve, two-bit, Johnny, and Dally, the whole gang was excited to have a new official member. I found out that afternoon from Ponyboy that the ring Soda used to propose to me was the same ring his dad used to propose to his mom, I felt so honored to hold the ring of the best parents in Tulsa.
