Soda and I got into the car after our wedding reception and headed to our honeymoon spot which I had picked out and guided Soda with the map as the spot remained a surprise, I carefully thought out the perfect spot we would both enjoy. "Sara, where are you taking us?" Soda asked with a smile. "You'll see, darling" I responded simply, not budging to give him any details about our destination. We drove up and around countless hills until we finally reached a farmhouse I had negotiated to rent for the honeymoon as well as a couple of miles of land, just like the country. Soda gasped, "nuh-uh, no way this is it!" he exclaimed with a smile as he slowly drove the car to a halt. "Surprise!" I beamed, "Oh my Gosh Sara, you're the best!" he enveloped me in a hug and kissed me passionately. "How'd you know I always loved the country?" "You told me about how much you loved it up here many years ago and your first job, and Mickey Mouse, remember?", his eyes glistened with love-filled tears, "Now Come on!" I added getting out of the car, he followed suit and we headed inside the house but not before he caught up to me and carried me in bridal style.

After getting our luggage from the trunk, We roamed about the farmhouse exploring and familiarizing ourselves with our honeymoon home and for some reason ( that Dal calls the lovesick giddys) we couldn't stop giggling and kissing each other. I know it sounds so stupid but we just get so lovey-dovey with one another and we were so excited to finally celebrate our long-awaited marriage. After a while of exploring, the sunset and we made our way to bed a few hours later.

I woke up to the most glorious sensation in the world- my husband's head nestled in my chest and his arm draped over my waist; oh, what a magical feeling. He stirred in his sleep as I ran my fingers through his un-greased hair, " Good morning, my dear wife" Soda muttered as he opened his eyes and glanced up at me. I smiled hearing the phrase 'my dear wife' used by the man of my dreams melted my heart. " Good morning, my adoring husband" I replied, he smiled back, that beautiful million-dollar smile. He held me closer to him as I wrapped my arms around him, we stayed like that for a solid ten minutes. Once we eventually broke the embrace, we got up and headed to the kitchen hand-in-hand after making the bed. " What do you wanna eat for breakfast, love?" I asked Soda,
" Whatever you wish to eat, darlin'"
" Ummm, how about waffles and eggs sunny side up?"
" Sounds good, honey" he replied connecting his lips with mine and letting them linger for a little while.
We divided the tasks in the kitchen between the two of us, I worked on the waffle batter as Soda cooked the eggs. I walked past the kitchen island where Soda was working on, my way to the refrigerator where I saw eggshells on the counter. "Babe, here's a tip I picked up while I worked in the kitchen; keep your station clear, a dirty kitchen is a recipe for disaster" I advised my husband " Thanks baby" he replied, I kissed him sweetly and walked back to the fridge to seek out the eggs. Once I returned, I noticed green drops lying on the flour that was in the mixing bowl and I instantly turned around to see a smirking Sodapop transferring the eggs from the pan to the plates. " Sodapop Curtis" I smirked, " Did you add food coloring to the waffles?" I crossed my arms. He grinned, "maybe" he replied simply with his smirk persisting. I giggled and carried on making the waffles, not bothering to care if they turned out green.

After we ate, we got dressed; Soda into a polo shirt and shorts, and I changed into a loose white dress with brown booties. We walked out into the open field and breathed in the crisp, fresh air that surrounded us; Basking in the peace that surrounded us. " I love you" Soda whispered in my ear as he wrapped his arms around me, " I love you too Soda, more than you'll ever know" I replied. Our heads snapped behind us once we heard the sound of distant neighs. To our surprise, on top of the mountain behind us stood two horses; the most majestic beings we have ever seen! They dashed down the mountain with ease and straight towards us, allowing us to rest our hands on their heads.

" Hello, I'm Sara and this is my husband Sodapop, are you with anyone?" I asked the horses as if they could understand me, Soda simply smiled without judgment. What a dreamboy I am fortunate enough to call my husband. The horses just pushed themselves closer to us as to reply with no, we're all alone, they gladly welcomed us on their backs as we rode them around the mountains, side by side. I didn't bother to tie my hair in a ponytail before we headed outside so I had the wind in my hair. I glanced to my side to see my husband who was smiling beyond belief, he looked into my eyes and we spent a few seconds like that. " Race ya!" He exclaimed before riding ahead of me at a fast pace, "Hey!" I laughed as I caught up with Soda and this time, I was the one to get ahead of him and reached the house again mere seconds before him, a small victory but still enough for me to boast about it enough never letting him forget about it (just as we have done to each other since we were kids). " Well Soda, how does it feel to be beaten by your wife " I teased. " Oh! You are gonna regret that Mrs. Curtis" he replied, purposely using the name to make me blush; he succeeded. We bid goodbye to the horses as they galloped into the open fields. We headed back inside and grabbed a picnic basket I had set up before leaving once more out into the fields for a picnic. That's when we noticed how long we had ridden the horses as the sun was beginning to set. We sat there and I leaned my head into Soda's shoulder as he wrapped an arm around me. " Man, the sunset sure is beautiful; but it pales in comparison to your beauty" Soda smiled, I giggled at the compliment as I hid my face in Soda's shoulder. "Please darling, don't ever hide from me" he added as he took my chin in his other hand, tilting my face to meet his gaze, I smiled. "Soda, I love you so much, I will never leave you" I smiled at him before our lips connected. Our gaze returned to the sunset and it sparked a memory of a poem Ponyboy once recited to him by Robert Frost,
" Nature's first green is gold" he started
" Her hardest hue to hold" I continued
" her early leaf's a flower"
" but only so an hour"
" Then leaf subsides to leaf"
" So Eden sank to grief"
" So dawn goes down to day"
" nothing gold can stay"
